Women's Tennis Takes Comeback Win at Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Xavier women's tennis came back from being down 2-0 to take a 4-3 win at Michigan State on Friday, moving to 5-4 on the season with a second-straight win.
The Musketeers will remain at Michigan State to face Illinois State tomorrow.

In doubles, the Spartans took a 6-0 win on the No. 1 court against Kat Lyman and Abby Nugent, while Xavier picked up a 6-2 win on the No. 3 court for Emily Flowers and Paulina Franco Martinessi. MSU secured the point with a 7-6 (5) win on the No. 2 court against Imani Graham and Blessing Nwaozuzu.Â
Michigan State went ahead 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Blessing Nwaozuzu on the No. 5 singles court. Xavier responded with a 6-4, 6-4 win for Abby Nugent on the No. 3 court, and a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win for Emily Flowers on the No. 6 court.
Xavier moved in front 3-2 with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win on the No. 1 court for Imani Graham, but MSU picked up the next decision, a 7-6, 6-1, 6-3 win on No. 4 against Abigail Siminski.Â
The final decision came down to tiebreakers in the third set, a 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4) win for Kat Lyman on the No. 2 court to seal the win for the Musketeers.
