CINCINNATI - Xavier baseball dropped a 19-6 contest vs crosstown rival Cincinnati on Wednesday at Hayden Field. Xavier moved to 10-10 on the year, while the Bearcats improved to 9-13.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak in the series for the Musketeers. Xavier has won seven of the last 10 meetings between the two schools.

The Bearcats scored 13 runs over the first two innings to take an early lead they would never relinquish. Cincinnati scored a season-high 19 runs, the team's third game with 10 or more runs this season.

Cincinnati had four more hits (13-9) than Xavier and committed two fewer errors (3-1). Xavier left one more runner on base (10-9) than the Bearcats.

Xavier returns to action on March 23-26 at No. 24 West Virginia. The opening game of the series is set for Friday at 6:30 p.m. All three games of the series can be watch on ESPN+.

ON THE MOUND

Connor Bailey (0-1) took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) and two hits in the first inning. Xavier used seven pitchers who combined to walk a season-high 11 batters.
Xavier also threw eight strikeouts in the game, paced by Jonathan Kelly who recorded three. The RHP tossed three scoreless innings and only surrendered one hit.

AT THE PLATE

Eight different players recorded a hit in the game. Luke Hammond was the lone player with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI.
Andrew Walker went 1-for-3 with a run and a RBI. He now has a team-high 29 hits on the year. Jack Housinger went 1-for-2 with a run.
Tyler DeMartino hit his first home run of the season, finishing the game 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and run. He now has 13 home runs in a Xavier uniform.
