Men's Tennis Returns Home to Host Dayton, DePaul

Musketeers face Flyers on Friday, Blue Demons on Sunday
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis (10-5) remains at home to host a pair of matches this weekend, starting with Dayton on Friday, March 24, set for a 7:00 p.m. start at Eastern Hills. The Musketeers will return to campus to host DePaul, set to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 26 at the Jim and Mary Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility.
Xavier will next be in action on Saturday, April 8, traveling to Indianapolis to face Butler, set for a 1:00 p.m. start.

- Dayton is 11-7 on the season, coming off a 4-1 win over Saint Joseph's.
- The Flyers went 16-8 overall last season with a 4-0 record in A10 matches.
- UD took 4-0 wins over Saint Louis and Saint Joe's to advance to the A10 Championship match, where the Flyers fell to No. 1 VCU, 4-0.
- Xavier faced Dayton last season, falling 4-3.

- DePaul is 8-11 on the season and will face Butler on Saturday before taking on the Musketeers.
- The Blue Demons went 13-13 last season with a 5-0 record in BIG EAST matches.
- DePaul used a 4-1 win over Creighton and a 4-2 win over Xavier to advance to the BIG EAST Championship match, topping St. John's 4-2 to take the league title and earn a bid to the NCAA Championship.
- DePaul fell 4-0 to No. 8 Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament first round.
- The Blue Demons took a 6-1 win over Xavier in 2022's regular season match-up before taking the 4-2 win over the Musketeers in the BIG EAST Semifinals.

- Xavier fell 7-0 to Temple on Saturday, moving to 10-5 on the season.Â
- In doubles play, the Owls took a 6-3 win over Shashank Reddy and Pascal Mosberger on No. 1 and a 6-4 win over Kyle Totorica and Charlie Temming on No. 3.
- In singles, Temple took the No. 1 court against Deacon Thomas, 6-0, 6-1, the No. 2 court, 6-1, 6-1, against Pascal Mosberger and a 6-2, 6-2 win over Kyle Totorica on No. 3.
- On No. 4, Marco Pennelli fell 6-3, 6-4. Charlie Temming fell on No. 5, 6-2, 6-0 and Shashank Reddy fell 6-4, 7-6 (5) on No. 6.

- For the week of Feb. 20, Xavier moved in the ITA team rankings, coming in at No. 61. It marked the first time Xavier was ranked since February 2013, when Xavier came in at No. 73.
- The 2021-22 Musketeers finished the season at 12-9 overall, the most wins since the 2015-16 season. Last year's squad advanced to the BIG EAST Semifinals for the first time since 2016 after earning the No. 3 seed, the program's highest seed in the BIG EAST Championship since joining the conference in 2013-14.
- Among the returners from last year's team are All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Ryan Cahill, as well as Marco Pennelli, Charlie Temming, Cambell Nakayama, Pascal Mosberger, Shashank Reddy,  Aaron Thompson and Jake Zipoli.
- Xavier also added a trio of newcomers, including transfer Jorge Santamaria, as well as freshmen Deacon Thomas and Kyle Totorica.
