Musketeers face Tigers on Saturday, Bearcats on Sunday

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis (7-5) returns to Cincinnati for its next two matches, hosting Memphis on Saturday, March 25, and facing Cincinnati on Sunday, March 26.

The match with Memphis' location will be determined based on the weather. If outdoors, the match will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Jim and Mary Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility. If indoors, the match will start at 5:00 p.m. at Eastern Hills.

The location and time of the match at Cincinnati on Sunday is to be determined, based on weather conditions.

The Musketeers are next in action on Saturday, April 1, hosting Wichita State, set for a noon start at the Jim and Mary Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility.

MEMPHIS

Memphis is 4-11 on the season with a 2-0 mark in AAC play. The Tigers will face Cincinnati on Friday ahead of the match with Xavier.
The Tigers went 20-7 overall with a 5-1 record in AAC play.
Memphis topped Tulane (4-3), South Florida (4-0) and Tulsa (4-1) on the way to winning the AAC Championship, earning a berth to the NCAA Championship.
Memphis faced No. 33 Georgia Tech in the NCAA Tournament, falling 4-1.
Xavier faced the Tigers last season, falling 5-2 in Memphis.

CINCINNATI

Cincinnati is 5-9 on the season, coming off a 7-0 win over Dayton. The Bearcats will face Memphis ahead of the match with Xavier.
The Bearcats went 16-7 overall and 1-2 in AAC play last season.
UC topped Wichita State 5-1 in the opening round of the AAC Championships before falling 4-0 to SMU in the quarterfinals.
Xavier took the 6-1 win over the Bearcats at Eastern Hills last season.

LAST TIME OUT

Xavier women's tennis fell at Louisville, 7-0, on Sunday, March 12, to move to 7-5 on the season.
In doubles, UofL took the No. 3 court, 6-0, against Abigail Siminski and Blessing Nwaozuzu, then sealed the point with a 6-1 win on No. 1 against Imani Graham and Anna Roggenburk. Kat Lyman and Paulina Franco Martinessi were leading 4-3 on No. 2 when the point was decided.
In singles play, a 6-1, 6-0 win over Anna Roggenburk on No. 3, a 6-1, 6-3 win over Blessing Nwaozuzu on No. 5 and a 6-3, 6-1 win over Imani Graham on No. 1 sealed the win for Louisville.
To wrap up the match, the Cardinals took a 6-2, 6-3 win over Kat Lyman on No. 2 singles, a 6-1, 6-3 win against Abigail Siminski on No. 4 singles and a 7-6 (5), 6-0 win over Paulina Franco Martinessi on No. 6 to set the score at 7-0.

THE MUSKETEERS

For the week of Feb. 27, Xavier moved in the ITA team rankings, coming in at No. 71.
The Musketeers wrapped up the 2022 spring season at 14-10 overall, brought home the program's third overall and second-straight BIG EAST Championship and earned Xavier's third bid to the NCAA Championships.
Five letterwinners return from last season's BIG EAST Championship squad, including All-BIG EAST selection Imani Graham, Kat Lyman, Anna Roggenburk, Blessing Nwaozuzu and Bella Kirby.
Xavier also added four-person freshman class, Emily Flowers, Paulina Franco Martinessi, Abby Nugent and Abigail Siminski.
