Baseball Claims Joe Nuxhall Classic Championship, Wins 11th-Straight with Victory Over Wright State

Musketeers extend program-best win streak with 6-2 win over Raiders at Cincinnati
CINCINNATI - Xavier baseball added to its program-best win streak, and secured the Joe Nuxhall Classic Championship for a second-straight year, with a 6-2 win over Wright State at UC Baseball Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. Xavier moves to 21-12 overall with an NCAA DI-best 11th-straight win.
Wright State took a one-run lead on a solo home run to lead off the game, taking the lead into the bottom of the third where Xavier scored a pair, with Andrew Walker driving in Luke Hammond, then coming home on a double from Tyler DeMartino.
The Musketeers added three more runs in the sixth, with Connor Misch hitting an two-RBI single to bring in Carter Hendrickson and Matt McCormick, and Jared Cushing scoring on a wild pitch.
The Raiders cut into the Xavier lead in the seventh with a run, but Xavier took the 5-2 advantage into the eighth where Xavier added a run on solo homer from Jack Housinger, setting the final score at 6-2.
The Musketeers returns to Hayden Field this weekend, hosting No. 20 UConn for a three-game series, set to begin on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and run through Sunday.

- Luke Hoskins went 6.0 innings in the start, allowing two earned runs on three hits with one strikeout to one walk. Hoskins picked up the win to move to 4-1 on the season.
- Justin Loer entered with two on and no outs in the seventh, getting the Musketeers out of the inning with minimal damage. Loer went 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk, striking out a pair.
- Nick Boyle pitched the ninth, not allowing a run. Boyle allowed one hit and one walk and had a pair of strikeouts on a five-strikeout day for the Musketeer bullpen.
