Women's Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season with Marquette and Butler

Musketeers host Golden Eagles for Senior Day on Friday, travel to Butler on Sunday
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis wraps up the regular season this weekend, hosting Marquette on Friday, April 14 for Senior Day, set for a 3:00 p.m. start at the Jim and Mary Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility. The Musketeers then travel to Indianapolis to face Butler on Sunday, April 16, set for an 11:00 a.m. start.
Following the match with Marquette on Friday, Xavier will honor senior Kat Lyman.
The Musketeers head to Cayce, S.C., next week to take part in the 2023 BIG EAST Tournament, set to begin on Thursday, April 20. Match-ups will be announced next week.

- The Golden Eagles are 8-10 on the season with a 2-3 record in BIG EAST play.
- Marquette went 13-10 last season with a 5-2 record in BIG EAST play.

- BU is 9-11 overall and has a 3-2 mark against BIG EAST teams, with a match-up against Marquette set for Saturday.
- The Bulldogs went 8-14 last season with a 1-2 record against BIG EAST opponents.
- Butler fell, 4-2, to DePaul in the BIG EAST Championship quarterfinals.
- Xavier swept the Bulldogs 7-0 last season in Cincinnati.

- After helping Xavier to a 6-1 win over UConn and a 2-0 mark against BIG EAST teams this season, Imani Graham and Anna Roggenburk were named the BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
- Graham and Roggenburk clinched the double's point in Xavier's  victory over UConn, defeated the Huskies' Aleksandra Karamyshev and Isabel Petri Bere in a 7-6 (3) tiebreaker on the No. 1 court, marking the duo's seventh doubles win of the dual season.
- The pair also helped Xavier on the singles court, with Graham, a junior from St. Johns, Fla., taking the No. 1 court, and Roggenburk, a redshirt junior from Avon Lake, Ohio, winning on the No. 3 court.

- Xavier women's tennis took a 6-1 win over the UConn Huskies on Friday afternoon.
- In doubles, Kat Lyman and Paulina Franco Martinessi took the No. 2 spot, 6-1, but the Huskies took a 6-1 win on No. 3 against Blessing Nwaozuzu and Abigail Siminski. Anna Roggenburk and Imani Graham secured the point for the Musketeers on the No. 1 court, taking it in tiebreakers 7-6 (3).
- Xavier picked up two set wins on No. 1, with Imani Graham winning 6-2, 6-3 and No. 3, with Anna Roggenburk winning 6-2, 6-2. The Musketeers also won in two sets on No. 5, with Blessing Nwaozuzu winning 6-4, 6-4, and on No. 6 with Paulina Franco Martinessi winning 6-0, 6-1.Â
- The Musketeers also picked up a three-set win on the No. 3 court, with Abigail Siminski winning 6-1, 5-7, 10-4.
- UConn picked up a point on No. 2, topping Kat Lyman 6-2, 6-2.

- Xavier stands at 10-7 on the season with a 2-0 record in BIG EAST play headed in the final weekend of the regular season.
- For the week of Feb. 27, Xavier moved in the ITA team rankings, coming in at No. 71.
- The Musketeers wrapped up the 2022 spring season at 14-10 overall, brought home the program's third overall and second-straight BIG EAST Championship and earned Xavier's third bid to the NCAA Championships.
- Five letterwinners return from last season's BIG EAST Championship squad, including All-BIG EAST selection Imani Graham, Kat Lyman, Anna Roggenburk, Blessing Nwaozuzu and Bella Kirby.
- Xavier also added four-person freshmen class, Emily Flowers, Paulina Franco Martinessi, Abby Nugent and Abigail Siminski.
