Men's Tennis Travels to Indy to Face Butler

Musketeers and Bulldogs play at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis (11-6) is back in action on Saturday, April 8, traveling to Indianapolis to face Butler, set for a 11:00 a.m. start.
Following the match with the Bulldogs, Xavier will wrap up the regular season with a pair of home matches, starting with Marquette on Friday, April 14 before facing UIC on Saturday April 15.

- Butler is 11-9 on the season with a 2-1 record in conference action.
- The Bulldogs went 13-11 last season with a 3-3 record in BIG EAST play.
- BU took a 4-3 win over Georgetown in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Championship before falling to St. John's, 4-1, in the semis.
- Xavier took the 4-3 win over Butler in last season's match-up, in Cincinnati.

- Xavier men's tennis fell 5-2 to BIG EAST opponent DePaul to move to 11-6 on the season.
- In doubles play, Xavier took the point with a 6-4 win on the No. 1 court for Shashank Reddy and Charlie Temming, and a 7-5 win on the No. 3 court for Kyle Totorica and Pascal Mosberger.
- Charlie Temming picked up a point on the No. 5 singles court, coming back to take a 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 win.
- The Blue Demons took the other five singles competitions, taking No. 1, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5, against Deacon Thomas, No. 2, 7-5, 7-5, against Pascal Mosberger and No. 3, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5), against Kyle Totorica. DePaul also took a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over Marco Pennelli on No. 4 and a 6-3, 6-4 win over Shashank Reddy on No. 6.

- For the week of Feb. 20, Xavier moved in the ITA team rankings, coming in at No. 61. It marked the first time Xavier was ranked since February 2013, when Xavier came in at No. 73.
- The 2021-22 Musketeers finished the season at 12-9 overall, the most wins since the 2015-16 season. Last year's squad advanced to the BIG EAST Semifinals for the first time since 2016 after earning the No. 3 seed, the program's highest seed in the BIG EAST Championship since joining the conference in 2013-14.
- Among the returners from last year's team are All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Ryan Cahill, as well as Marco Pennelli, Charlie Temming, Cambell Nakayama, Pascal Mosberger, Shashank Reddy, Aaron Thompson and Jake Zipoli.
- Xavier also added a trio of newcomers, including transfer Jorge Santamaria, as well as freshmen Deacon Thomas and Kyle Totorica.
