Women's Tennis Hosts UConn on Friday

Musketeers and Huskies set for a 1 PM start outdoors, 2 PM start if indoors
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis is set to host BIG EAST opponent UConn on Friday, April 7, set for a 1:00 p.m. start at Xavier's Jim and Mary Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility. If the match is moved indoors due to weather, it will be played at 2:00 p.m. at Eastern Hills.
Xavier wraps up the regular season next weekend, hosting Marquette on Friday, April 14, before traveling to Indianapolis to face Butler on Sunday, April 16.

- UConn is 8-8 on teh season with a 2-3 record in BIG EAST play.
- The Huskies went 10-12 last season with a 2-3 record in BIG EAST play.
- UConn picked up a 4-0 win over Villanova in the BIG EAST Championship opening round before falling to St. John's in the quarterfinals, 4-0.
- This is the first match-up between the two programs in Xavier's record books.

- Xavier women's tennis fell to the Wichita State Shockers, 5-2, on Saturday at the Camargo Racquet Club, moving the Musketeers to 9-7 on the season.
- In doubles, the Shockers took a 6-3 decision on No. 3, agaisnt Blessing Nwaozuzu and Abigail Siminski followed by a 6-3 No. 1 against Kat Lyman and Abby Nugent to take the point. Imani Graham and Anna Roggenburk trailed 5-3 on No. 2 when the point was decided.
- The Shockers picked up the first two decisions on singles to go ahead 3-0, taking a 6-1, 6-3 win over Anna Roggenburk on the No. 4 court and a 6-2, 6-4 win against Abby Nugent on the No. 3 court.
- Imani Graham picked up a 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 win on the No. 1 court to cut the WSU lead back to 3-1.
- The match was clinched on court No. 4 where Abigail Siminski fell 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
- After the match was decided, Kat Lyman picked up a point on No. 2, taking the match 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (1) and Blessing Nwaozuzu fell 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 on No. 6 to set the final score at 5-2.

- For the week of Feb. 27, Xavier moved in the ITA team rankings, coming in at No. 71.
- The Musketeers wrapped up the 2022 spring season at 14-10 overall, brought home the program's third overall and second-straight BIG EAST Championship and earned Xavier's third bid to the NCAA Championships.
- Five letterwinners return from last season's BIG EAST Championship squad, including All-BIG EAST selection Imani Graham, Kat Lyman, Anna Roggenburk, Blessing Nwaozuzu and Bella Kirby.
- Xavier also added four-person freshmen class, Emily Flowers, Paulina Franco Martinessi, Abby Nugent and Abigail Siminski.
