Michigan took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Xavier evened it up in the top of two, with back-to-back walks for Connor Misch and Garrett Schultz to lead off the inning, with both runners advancing on a ground ball and Misch scoring on a sac fly from Grant Stephenson.Â
Xavier added two more runs on four hits in the third, with Andrew Walker hitting a lead-off double, then scoring on an RBI single from Connor Misch. Misch advanced on a single from Garrett Schultz, and scored on single from Alex Helmin.

In the top of seven, back-to-back solo home runs, from Jared Cushing and Connor Misch, set the tone for a nine-run inning to break the game open. Xavier got RBIs on a double Andrew Walker and a single from Teddy Deters before Cushing capped off the seven-hit inning with his second homer of the frame, this time a two-run shot to make it a 14-2 Xavier lead, setting the final score.
