Baseball Falls in Game Two with Georgetown

Rubber match between Musketeers and Hoyas set for 1 PM start on Saturday at Hayden Field
Xavier took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run from Matthew DePrey. The Musketeers held the advantage into the third, where the Hoyas scored a pair to move in front, 2-1. The Hoyas added runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth to build the GU lead out to 11-1.
The 10-run lead held into the bottom of the seventh, when Xavier posted four runs on three hits. Andrew Walker led off the inning with a single and Garrett Schultz got aboard after being hit by a pitch. Connor Misch hit an RBI single through the left side to score Walker and move Schultz to third. After Carter Hendrickson took a two-out walk to load the bases, Grant Stephenson hit a three-RBI double to set the score at 11-5.
Xavier sits in second place in the BIG EAST standings, with a .700 conference winning percentage at 14-6, trailing UConn, which stands at 13-5Â with a .722 winning percentage. The Huskies have two games remaining, facing Creighton on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. ET before wrapping up the series with the Bluejays on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
The Musketeers and the Hoyas wrap up the series and the regular season at Hayden Field on Saturday, May 20, set for a 1:00 p.m. start. Xavier will celebrate Senior Day prior to first pitch.

- Jack Housinger broke the school record for career at-bats in the ninth inning. He now has 834 at-bats for his Xavier career, breaking the previous school record of 833 held by Drew Schmidt (2007-10).
