Xavier's five goals are most for the Musketeers since Oct. 2019

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - No. 17 Xavier women's soccer moved back into the win column on Sunday afternoon, taking a 5-1 win at Western Kentucky to move to 3-1 on the season.

Samantha Wiehe's second goal of the season, scored from Regan Dancer, gave Xavier a 1-0 lead midway through the first half. Xavier held the lead in the final minute of the half, when WKU equalized, tapping the ball in off a long pass to even the score at 1-1. The Musketeers responded seconds later, with Izzie Wallace getting the ball outside the top of the penalty box, shooting to the upper right corner in the final seconds for the 2-1 halftime lead.

Less than 10 minutes into a second half, Xavier added another goal to the lead, with Samantha Wiehe setting Kennedy Clark up for her second goal of the season. Xavier added two more tallies, with Regan Dancer scoring from Jane Olcott, and Madison Ayson scoring from Emma Flick, to set the final score at 5-1, the most goals for the Musketeers in a single game since the 2019 season.

Xavier remains on the road for its next match, traveling to RV Saint Louis on Thursday, August 31, at 8:00 PM ET in St. Louis, Mo.

24' | XAVIER | Regan Dancer had the ball deep on the right side of the box, sliding it in to the near post where Samantha Wiehe tapped it in for the 1-0 lead.

45' | WESTERN KENTUCKY | WKU's Aspen Seaich served the ball from the far side of the field to Lily Rummo in the penalty box. Rummo tapped it over the goalkeeper to equalize at 1-1.

45' | XAVIER | Izzie Wallace brought the ball up the middle of the field, getting the ball back off a clearance from a WKU defender. She shot from outside the penalty box to the upper right corner, sneaking the ball inside the post as time expired in the first half for the 2-1 lead.

53' | XAVIER | Samantha Wiehe played the ball forward from around midfield to Kennedy Clark who drove past the defense, pulling the WKU goalkeeper forward then tapping the ball low past her for the 3-1 lead.

71' | XAVIER | Jane Olcott played the ball ahead to Regan Dancer, who brought the ball to the edge of the 18-yard box, shooting to the upper left corner for the 4-1 lead.

72' | XAVIER | Emma Flick tapped the ball to Madison Ayson outside the left side of the 18-yard box. Ayson shot to the far post, finding the right corner of the goal for the 5-1 lead.
