No. 17 Women's Soccer Takes 5-1 Win at WKU

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - No. 17 Xavier women's soccer moved back into the win column on Sunday afternoon, taking a 5-1 win at Western Kentucky to move to 3-1 on the season.
Samantha Wiehe's second goal of the season, scored from Regan Dancer, gave Xavier a 1-0 lead midway through the first half. Xavier held the lead in the final minute of the half, when WKU equalized, tapping the ball in off a long pass to even the score at 1-1. The Musketeers responded seconds later, with Izzie Wallace getting the ball outside the top of the penalty box, shooting to the upper right corner in the final seconds for the 2-1 halftime lead.
Less than 10 minutes into a second half, Xavier added another goal to the lead, with Samantha Wiehe setting Kennedy Clark up for her second goal of the season. Xavier added two more tallies, with Regan Dancer scoring from Jane Olcott, and Madison Ayson scoring from Emma Flick, to set the final score at 5-1, the most goals for the Musketeers in a single game since the 2019 season.
Xavier remains on the road for its next match, traveling to RV Saint Louis on Thursday, August 31, at 8:00 PM ET in St. Louis, Mo.
