Desmond Claude and Dayvion McKnight each finish with 20 points
OMAHA, Neb. - A pair of Musketeers finished with 20-point games but Xavier men's basketball fell, 85-78, at No. 17 Creighton on Tuesday evening at the CHI Health Center.
Dayvion McKnight and Desmond Claude each scored 20 and Quincy Olivari finished with 15 as Xavier moved to 10-9 on the season and and 4-4 in BIG EAST play.
Creighton led by as many as seven in the first 11 minutes of the game before the Musketeers went on an 18-4 run over the next four minutes to go in front by seven. The Bluejays responded with a 6-0 spurt, and the two teams traded leads over time final minutes of the half, with Xavier taking a 39-39 lead into the break. Desmond Claude led all scorers with 18 in the first half.
Xavier maintained the lead for the first 10 minutes of the second half before the Bluejays went on a 14-4 run to move back in front, never relinquishing the lead. Xavier trailed by as many as nine down the stretch before falling by seven, 85-78.
