Dayvion McKnight leads Musketeers with 18 points

HARTFORD, Conn. - No. 1 UConn jumped out to a lead early and never relinquished the advantage as Xavier fell 99-56 at the XL Center on Sunday afternoon.

Dayvion McKnight led three Musketeers in double figures with 18 points, Quincy Olivari had 14 and Desmond Claude added 11 as Xavier moved to 10-10 on the season and and 4-5 in BIG EAST play.

UConn scored the first 10 points and built the lead out to 38-7. Dayvion McKnight had 12 to lead Xavier in the first half and Quincy Olivari scored eight as the Musketeers went into halftime trailing 48-22.

Xavier cut the Huskies' lead back to 23 immediate after the half, 49-26, but a 12-0 run from UConn extended the lead out to 35. UConn built the lead out to as many as 44 in the final minute, winning 99-56. Desmond Claude led Xavier in the second half with nine points.

The Huskies connected on 17 three pointers, tying the school record for a Xavier opponent and tying UConn's school record for made threes.
