Xavier Basketball Kicks off 2024-25 Season with Musketeer Madness Presented by Heartland Bank

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's basketball celebrated the opening of basketball season with 2024 Musketeer Madness, presented by Heartland Bank. Over 6,000 Xavier fans filled Cintas Center for a first glimpse of the 2024-25 Musketeers.

WOMEN'S SCRIMMAGE
- Musketeer Madness kicked off with the introductions for the 2024-25 Xavier women's basketball team and the introduction of head coach Billi Chambers prior to her second season.
- After the first of two eight-minute halves, White led Blue 12-4, with Loren Christie leading all scorers with five points. Christie and Vivien Nejašmić each had three rebounds to help White to a 10-4 advantage on the boards in the first half, with a 4-1 advantage on the offensive glass.
- Christie added another five points in the second period to lead the White team to a 22-9 win. She finished with team highs in points (10) and rebounds (6).
MEN'S SCRIMMAGE
- Following the women's scrimmage, the 2024-25 men's basketball team was introduced, as well as Sedler Family Men's Basketball Head Coach Sean Miller.
- 2024 Musketeer Madness closed with a men's scrimmage, featuring two 12-minute halves.
- Xavier White led 34-30 after the first half, shooting 75 percent from the floor for the period. Marcus Foster and Ryan Conwell each scoring eight to lead the way for White. Zach Freemantle and Dante Maddox each had eight points for the Blue squad.
- In the second half, Blue led by as many as 11, 57-46, before White used a 6-0 run to pull within five with just over a minute remaining before a pair of free throw set the final score at 59-52. Trey Green led White with seven points in the second half, while Roddie Anderson III led Blue with seven.
- Ryan Conwell (White) and Dante Maddox (Blue) led all scorers for the game, each scoring 13.
- Zach Freemantle (Blue) and John Hughley (White) each had a game-high seven boards as both teams finished with 21.
SEASON OPENERS
- Women's basketball opens the season on Tuesday, November 5, hosting San Jose State at Cintas Center for a 5:00 p.m. start on FloSports.
- Men's basketball will travel to Dayton for an exhibition game on Sunday, October 20, set for a 5:00 p.m. start on Bally Sports Ohio and ESPN+.
- The men's basketball season officially gets underway on Monday, November 4, when Xavier hosts Texas Southern at Cintas Center, set for a 7:30 p.m. start on FS1.
