Four Musketeers Combine For 10 Wins at Michigan State Classic

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Four Musketeers traveled to the Michigan State Classic over the weekend, with Emily Flowers, Sofia Mazzucato, Elizabeth Pendergast and Natalie Smitek picking up a combined 10 wins competing against players from Michigan, Notre Dame, Northwestern and the host Spartans.

In singles play, Emily Flowers picked up the first of two wins on the weekend on Friday, topping Michigan's Jessica Bernales, 6-3, 6-0. Flowers also topped Michigan's Bayley Sheinin, 6-1, 6-2 on Sunday.

Elizabeth Pendergast collected a pair of wins, topping Bruno of Michigan, 6-3, 6-4, on Saturday, and Rylie Handford of Notre Dame, 6-0, 7-6 (7), on Sunday.

Natalie Smitek took a 6-4, 6-1 win over Ava Bruno of Michigan on Friday, and picked up second win on Sunday, topping Katya Shepherd of Northwestern, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.

Smitek combined with Sofia Mazzucato to take a pair of doubles wins on Saturday, taking a 6-3 win over Notre Dame's Rylie Hanford and Bianca Molnar, and then topping Northwestern's Jennifer Riester and Katya Shepherd, 6-4.

Pendergast and Flowers also combined for a pair of doubles wins, taking a 6-2 win over Natalie Stansy and Issey Purser of Michigan State on Saturday, and then a 6-0 win over Notre Dame's Rylie Hanford and Bianca Molnar on Sunday.
