The Zips defeated the Musketeers, 1-0, on Friday night

AKRON, Ohio - Xavier men's soccer dropped a 1-0 contest at Akron in BIG EAST action on Friday night at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Musketeers fall to 4-3-4 (1-1-1 BIG EAST), while the Zips improve to 5-3-3 (3-0-0 BIG EAST).

Xavier ends non-conference play at Cleveland State on Tuesday, Oct. 8. First touch is set for 7 p.m. from Krenzler Field.

NOTABLES

The Akron goal was the first allowed by the Xavier defense in nearly 428 minutes (427:47) of action. Before facing Akron on Friday night, the last time the Musketeers allowed a goal was in the 77th minute at No. 21 Ohio State on Sept. 8.
Xavier held a 12-6 advantage in shots and took four more shots on goal (6-2). The Musketeers also took three more corner kicks (4-1).
Akron committed two more fouls (16-14) than Xavier. The Musketeers were also issued three more yellow cards (4-1) than the Zips.
Ten Musketeers took a shot in the match, paced Michael Rogalski who took a match-high three shots (two shots on goal).
Jonny Mennell (4-3-4) made one save in 90 minutes of action. He now has a 0.73 goals against average on the year with 30 saves.
Jonny Mennell (13-7-10) has a 0.80 goals against average with 93 saves and 15 shutouts in 30 career matches.
The Musketeers have only allowed eight goals (one via penalty kick) in 11 matches this season. Xavier has only allowed two, first-half goals this season.
Xavier has been held without a goal in two straight matches. The Musketeers last scored a goal on Sept. 24 vs Evansville (W, 2-0 at Corcoran Field).
Through three BIG EAST matches, the Musketeers have only allowed one goal. Jonny Mennell (1-1-1) has a 0.33 goals against average with six saves and two shutouts in conference matches.
