Musketeers Close Homestand with 80-55 Win Over Siena

CINCINNATI - Four Musketeers reached double figures on Wednesday night as Xavier closed its season-opening homestand with an 80-55 win over Siena.
The Musketeers improved to 5-0, while the Saints dropped to 3-2.
Xavier returns to action on Nov. 25-27 at the Fort Myers Tip-Off. The Musketeers open tournament action vs South Carolina on Monday, Nov. 25. Tip-off is slated for 8:30 p.m. from Suncoast Credit Union Arena with the game being aired nationally on FS1.

NOTABLE
- Ryan Conwell scored a game-high 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting with four 3-pointers. He added two steals and one rebound. The guard has scored in double figures in every game this season.
- Trey Green added 14 points on 5-for-8 with four 3-pointers. The guard added three rebounds and three assists. He has reached double figures twice this season.
- Marcus Foster became the ninth Xavier player to score in double figures this season, scoring 12 points on 5-for-7 shooting. He knocked down two 3-pointers and recorded five rebounds and five assists.
- Zach Freemantle nearly missed his second double-double of the season, scoring 10 points and grabbing a game-high nine rebounds. He added three assists and two steals.
- Dayvion McKnight finished with nine points and a game-high seven assists. Dailyn Swain added seven points on 3-for-4 shooting to go along with three assists, two rebounds and two steals.
- Xavier hit 50.8 percent (33-for-65) of its shot attempts, the team's third game of the season with a .500 field-goal percentage or better. The Musketeers went 11-for-24 from behind the arc, the team's fourth straight game with 10 or more three pointers. Xavier was also 3-for-4 from the foul line.
- Xavier had 11 steals, the team's third game with 11 or more steals this season. The Musketeers forced 16 turnovers, converting the miscues into 12 points.
- Xavier won the battle on the glass, 35-29, and scored 29 more fastbreak points (33-4) than the Saints. The Musketeers also held an 8-6 advantage in second-chance points and scored 20 more points in the paint (42-22). Siena held an 11-2 advantage in blocks.
- Siena finished the game with a .417 field-goal percentage (20-for-48) and went 6-for-18 from behind the arc. The Saints also went 9-for-20 from the foul line. Reid Ducharme scored a team-high 15 points on 5-for-12 shooting.
- Siena knocked down a three pointer to open the game for its only lead of the contest. Xavier responded by going on a 9-2 run to take the lead.
- The Musketeers took their first double-figure lead (28-18) at the 8:16 mark in the first half and took a 44-28 advantage into the break. Xavier led by as many as 27 points (76-49) with 4:01 left in regulation.
- Xavier moved to 5-1 all-time vs Siena.
