CINCINNATI - The Xavier volleyball team dropped a close contest to Marquette, 3-0 (18-25, 24-26, 18-25) on Friday night in Cintas Center.

After a slow offensive production in the first set, the Musketeers combined for 16 kills in the second frame led by Anna Taylor who recorded eight of her own.

Taylor, along with Margo Kemp and Sarah Stevens each recorded two blocks in the second set.

The Musketeers had set point in the second frame, but the Golden Eagles fought back with a 5-0 run to take a two-set lead in the match.

With Xavier's loss and Villanova's win over Providence tonight, the Musketeers are no longer in contention for the BIG EAST Tournament.

Anna Taylor led the team with 12 kills and only two errors on a .455 clip. She added two solo blocks in the match
Margo Kemp followed up with seven kills and two blocks of her own.
Emma Grace had six kills and 11 digs.
Lucia Corsaro recorded 10 digs for her seventh straight match in double figures.
Logan Flaugh tallied 26 assists and two kills along with a block.
The Musketeers combined for six blocks opposed to Marquette's five.
