Xavier Baseball Announces 2025 Schedule

Musketeers set to face nine NCAA Tournament participants from last season
CINCINNATI - Xavier baseball announced the schedule for the 2025 schedule, which is set to get underway on Friday, February 14, at the Sanderson Ford College Baseball Classic in Suprise, Ariz. where the Musketeers open the season with Oregon State. Xavier opens the home portion of the schedule on March 21 with Ball State at Hayden Field
The Musketeers face teams from 10 conferences outside of BIG EAST play, as well as Oregon State, which will compete as an independent in baseball this season. Nine of the teams on Xavier's schedule played in last season's NCAA Tournament, including four teams that advanced to Super Regionals and two teams that took part in the College World Series.
Xavier looks to return to the BIG EAST Tournament, held at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio, from May 21-24.Â

Feb. 14-17 (4 Games)
Surprise, Ariz.
- The Musketeers open up the season against Oregon State on Friday, Feb. 14, the first of two games against the Beavers. Xavier and OSU return to the field on Monday, Feb. 17.
- Oregon State went 45-16 overall last season with a 19-10 record in the final season of Pac 12 play.
- The Beavers earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, hosting the Corvallis Regional. OSU won three straight games to advance to the Lexington Super Regional where the Beavers were eliminated by host Kentucky.
- Xavier is 0-3 all-time against the Beavers after being swept in a three-game series in 2022.
- Xavier will face Indiana on Saturday, Feb. 15, the first of two games against the Hoosiers in 2025. IU went 33-26-1 overall last season with a 15-9 record in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, playing in the Knoxville Regional.
- The Musketeers will face UNLV on Sunday, Feb. 16. The Rebels finished 26-26 overall and 12-18 in Mountain West play last season.
- This is the first match-up between the Rebels and the Musketeers.
Louisville
Feb. 19 (1 Game)
Louisville, Ky.
- Xavier will face Louisville in the first midweek game of the season.
- The Cardinals went 32-24 last season overall, and finished 16-14 in ACC play, falling in pool play of the ACC Tournament.
- Xavier is 19-39 all-time against the Cardinals after taking a 9-1 win in Louisville in the lone match-up between the two teams last season.
Liberty
Feb. 21-23 (3 Games)
Lynchburg, Va.
- Xavier travels to Lynchburg, Va., for a three-game series with the Flames.
- Liberty went 24-34 overall last season with an 11-13 record in Conference USA play. The Flames won a pair of games in the CUSA Tournament but were eliminated by No. 1 seed La Tech a game shy of the Championships series.
- Xavier is 0-1 all-time against the Flames, an 8-4 loss in March 1996.
Indiana
Feb. 25 (1 Game)
Bloomington, Ind.
- Xavier and Indiana will play the second of two games in 2025 in Bloomington, Ind.
- IU went 33-26-1 overall last season with a 15-9 record in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, playing in the Knoxville Regional.
- Xavier is 6-22 all-time against the Hoosiers, last playing in 2023.
Stanford
Feb. 28 – March 2 (4 Games)
Palo Alto, Calif.
- Xavier travels to Palo Alto for four games, getting underway on Friday, Feb. 28, with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday, March 1, and the series finale set for Sunday, March 2.
- The Cardinal went 22-33 overall last season with an 11-19 in the final season of Pac-12 play. Stanford advanced to the Pac-12 Semifinal round, falling to No. 18 Arizona.
- This is the first time the two teams will face each other.
Tennessee
March 5 (1 Game)
Knoxville, Tenn.
- The Musketeers head to Knoxville, Tenn., to face the reigning National Champions for a midweek match-up.
- The Volunteers went 60-13 overall last season, and 22-8 in SEC regular season play. After falling to Vanderbilt in the Vols first game of the SEC Tournament, UTK won four-straight to take the SEC Tournament Championship.
- Host Tennessee took wins over Northern Kentucky, Indiana and Southern Miss to advance out the NCAA Knoxville Regional and won 2-of-3 against Evansville in the Knoxville Super Regional to move on to the College World Series. The Vols picked up three-straight wins, over Florida State, North Carolina and again over the Seminoles to face Texas A&M in the MCWS Championship series, taking 2-of-3 to take the title.
- Xavier is 0-5 all-time against the Volunteers, falling 10-2 in the most recent match-up in Knoxville in 2024.
Vanderbilt
March 7-9 (3 Games)
Nashville, Tenn.
- Xavier will face Vandy in a three game-series in Nashville.
- The Commodores went 38-23 overall last season with a 13-17 record in SEC play. Vanderbilt picked up three-straight wins in the SEC Tournament to advance to the Semifinals, falling to Tennessee.
- The Dores earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, competing in the Clemson Regional.
- Xavier is 4-8 against Vanderbilt all-time, last facing the Dores in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, where the Musketeers took a 2-1 win to eliminate VU and advance to the Nashville Regional Final.
LSU
March 11 (1 Game)
Baton Rouge, La.
- The Musketeers will take on the Tigers in a midweek match-up during Xavier's spring break trip south.
- LSU finished 43-23 overall and 13-17 in SEC play. The Tigers picked up four-straight wins in the SEC Tournament to advance to the Semifinals, falling to Tennesee.
- LSU earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Chapell Hill Regional Final, but falling to hosts North Carolina in the Championship game.
- The Musketeers are 1-2 all-time against the Tigers after playing a three-game series in Baton Rouge in 2024.

Hammond, La.
- The Musketeers continue their Spring Break trip with a midweek game at Southeastern Louisiana.
- The Lions went 30-28 last season with a 10-14 record in Southland Conference play, picking up a pair of wins in the SLC Tournament.
- Xavier is 0-1 all-time against the Lions, last playing in 1992.
Tulane
March 14-16 (3 Games)

- The Musketeers wrap up the trip south with a three-game series at Tulane.
- The Green Wave went 36-26 overall last season with a 19-13 record in the American Athletic Conference regular season.
- Tulane won four-straight in the AAC Championship to take the league title and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, where the Green Wave took part in the Corvallis Regional, falling to Oregon State and picking up a win over Nicholls before being eliminated by UC Irvine.
- Xavier is 0-6 all-time against Tulane, last playing in a three-game series in the 2015 season.
Ball State
March 21-23 (3 Game)
Hayden Field – Cincinnati, Ohio
- The Musketeers open up the home portion of the schedule with a three-game series against Ball State at Hayden Field.
- The Cardinals went 35-23-1 last season with an 18-12 mark in MAC play. Ball State advanced to the MAC Tournament Championship but fell to Western Michigan in the deciding game.
- Xavier is 5-10 all time against BSU, last facing the Cardinals in 2016.
Kentucky
March 25 (1 Game)
Lexington, Ky.
- The Musketeers take on the Wildcats for a single midweek game in Lexington.
- The Wildcats went 46-16 overall last season with a 22-8 record in SEC play. The Wildcats were eliminated in the fourth round of the SEC Tournament.
- UK earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, hosting the Lexington Regional and picking up wins over Western Michigan, Illinois and Indiana State to advance to the Lexington Super Regional, where they used two wins over Oregon State to move on to the College World Series.
- At the MCWS, Kentucky picked up a win over NC State before being eliminated by losses to Texas A&M and Florida.
- Xavier is 2-30 all-time against Kentucky, last facing the Wildcats in Lexington in 2023 after the 2024 match-up was canceled due to weather.
UConn *
March 28-30 (3 Games)
Hayden Field – Cincinnati, Ohio
- The Musketeers open BIG EAST play at home, hosting UConn for a three-game series at Hayden Field.
- The Huskies went 35-26 overall and 17-4 in BIG EAST play, winning the league's regular season title. UConn earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, picking up wins over Duke and Oklahoma to advance to the Norman Regional Final.
- The Huskies split the Regional Championship Series with Oklahoma to win the Regional title and advance to the Tallahassee Super Regional where they were eliminated by Florida State.
- Xavier moved 9-13 all-time against UConn after posting 2-2 record against the Huskies last season. Xavier finished with a 1-2 record in the regular season series before the Musketeers took a 3-2 win in 11 innings in the opening game of the BIG EAST Tournament.
Wright State
April 1 & 23 (2 Games)
Hayden Field – Cincinnati, Ohio / Fairborn, Ohio
- Xavier hosts Wright State for the first of two games against the Raiders on Tuesday, April 1, then make the return trip to Fairborn on Wednesday, April 23. The Musketeers could also potentially face Wright State in second game of the Joe Nuxhall Classic.
- The Raiders went 32-24 last season with a 20-10 record in Horizon League play. WSU picked up a win over Youngstown State in the opening game of the Horizon League Championship before being eliminated with losses to NKU and YSU.
- Xavier is 35-40 all-time against Wright State after going 1-1 against the Raiders last season, falling 7-6 in the first match-up in Fairborn before taking a 10-7 win at Hayden Field.
Butler *
April 4-6 (3 Games)
Hayden Field – Cincinnati, Ohio
- Xavier continues BIG EAST play at home, hosting the Butler Bulldogs for three games at Hayden Field.
- Butler went 20-35 overall last season, with a 5-16 mark in BIG EAST play, finishing in eighth place in the league standings.
- Xavier moved to 71-34 all-time against the Bulldogs after the Musketeers went 3-0 in last season's series. XU has won the last 10 meetings between the two teams, a streak that goes back to 2021.
Joe Nuxhall Classic
(Miami, Wright State, Cincinnati)
April 8-9 (2 Games)
Prasco Park – Mason, Ohio
- The four-team Joe Nuxhall Classic features Cincinnati, Wright State and Miami at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.
- Xavier will face Miami (Ohio) in the opening game on April 8 at Prasco Park, set for a 2 PM start, to be followed by Wright State vs. Cincinnati.
- The Musketeers will return to Prasco Park on Wednesday, April 9, to face either the Raiders or the Bearcats, depending on Tuesday's results.
- In last season's rain shortened Joe Nuxhall Classic, Xavier fell to UC, 5-2, in the only game the Musketeers played. Miami (Ohio) took a 22-21 win over Wright State last season as well.
- Prior to last season, Xavier won the previous two Joe Nuxhall Classics, securing the 2023 title with 16-2 win over Miami and a 6-2 win over Wright State.
St. John's *
April 11-13 (3 Games)
Queens, N.Y.
- Xavier heads to Queens, N.Y. for the first road trip of the BIG EAST schedule, facing the Red Storm for three games.
- SJU went 38-18-1 overall last season, with a 14-7 record in BIG EAST play, finishing second in the league standings. The Red Storm went 3-0 in the BIG EAST Tournament, picking up two wins over Georgetown and a win over Xavier to clinch the league title and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
- The Red Storm took part in the Charlottesville Regional in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, falling to Mississippi State in the opening game and picking up a win over Penn before being eliminated by the Bulldogs.
- Xavier moved to 18-19 all-time against the Red Storm last season after going 1-2 in the regular season series and then falling to SJU in the winner's bracket of the BIG EAST Tournament.
Cincinnati
April 15 & 22 (2 Games)
Cincinnati, Ohio
- Xavier will travel across town on Tuesday, April 15, for the first of two games with Cincinnati. Xavier hosts the Bearcats in the return trip on Tuesday, April 22, at Hayden Field. The two teams could also potentially play in the second game of Joe Nuxhall Classic.
- UC went 32-25 overall last season with an 18-8 mark in the Bearcats' first season in the Big 12. Cincinnati fell to UCF in the opening game of the league tournament and picked up a win over Texas before being eliminated by Texas Tech.
- Xavier moved to 53-73 all-time against UC after going 2-1 against the Bearcats last season. The Musketeers took the first game, an 11-9 in Xavier's home opener, while UC took a 5-2 win in the Joe Nuxhall Classic. Xavier took a 6-4 win at UC Baseball Stadium in the final match-up of the season.
Villanova *
April 17-19 (3 Games)
Villanova, Pa.
- Xavier returns to the road to continue BIG EAST play at Villanova, set to get underway on Thursday, April 18, and run through Saturday, April 19.
- The Wildcats went 17-34 overall last season, with an 8-13 mark in BIG EAST play, finishing fifth in the league standings.
- Xavier moved to 19-11 all-time against the Wildcats after going 1-2 in last season's series.
Georgetown *
April 25-27 (3 Games)
Hayden Field – Cincinnati, Ohio
- Xavier will host Georgetown for a three-game series at Hayden Field.
- The Hoyas went 36-20 overall last season with a 13-7 record in BIG EAST play, finishing third in the league standings.
- After falling to St. John's in the opening game of the BIG EAST Tournament, Georgetown picked up wins over UConn and Xavier to advance to the Championship series. St. John's took the deciding game.
- Xavier moved to 22-12 all-time against the Hoyas after going 2-2 against GU last season, going 2-1 in the regular season series and then falling in the BIG EAST Tournament.
Miami (Ohio)
April 30 (2 Games including Joe Nuxhall Classic)
Hayden Field – Cincinnati, Ohio
- Xavier fill face Miami (Ohio) for a pair of games in 2025, including in the opening game of the Joe Nuxhall Classic at Prasco Park on April 8. Xavier also hosts the RedHawks on Wednesday, April 30 at Hayden Field.
- Miami finished 2024 at 27-27 overall with a 17-13 record in MAC play. The RedHawks opened the MAC Tournament with a win over Kent State before being eliminated with losses to Bowling Green and Toledo.
- Xavier moved to 33-46-1 all-time against Miami after splitting two games last season, falling 11-1 on the road in April and taking a 12-11 win in May at Hayden Field.
Seton Hall *
May 2-4 (3 Games)
Hayden Field – Cincinnati, Ohio
- The Musketeers wrap up the home portion of the schedule with a three-game series against Seton Hall.
- The Pirates went 24-30 overall last season, with a 7-14 mark in BIG EAST play, finishing seventh in the league standings.
- Xavier is 17-18 all-time against the Pirates after taking 2-of-3 in last season's series in South Orange.
Creighton *
May 9-11 (3 Games)
Omaha, Neb.
- Xavier will travel to Omaha, Neb., for a three-game series with the Blue Jays.
- Creighton went 35-17 overall last season, with a 7-13 mark in BIG EAST play, finishing sixth in the league standings.
- Xavier moved to 21-19 all-time against the Bluejays after going 2-1 against Creighton in 2024.
Penn State
May 15-17 (3 Games)
State College, Pa./Harrisburg, Pa.
- Xavier will wrap up the regular season with a three-game series at Penn State, startin on Thursday, May 15, in State College, Pa. Game two is set to take play on Friday in Harrisburg, Pa., before the series wraps up on Saturday in State College.
- The Nittany Lions went 29-24 overall last season with a 12-12 record in Big Ten play. Penn State took a win over Illinois and two wins over Michigan to advance to the Championship game where PSU fell to Nebraska.
- Xavier is 3-4 all-time against Penn State, last playing in a three-game series in 2018.
