Musketeers return to Eastern Hills to host Cornell on Saturday

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis picked up a 7-0 win over Cincinnati on Friday evening at Eastern Hills, moving the Musketeers to 7-3 on the season.

With the win, the Musketeers extend their dual match win streak over the Bearcats to five straight, dating back to 2019. Xavier's trio of seniors, Imani Graham, Anna Roggenburk and Blessing Nwaozuzu, moved to 4-0 against the Bearcats for their careers.

The Musketeers are back at Eastern Hills on Saturday, Feb. 24, hosting Cornell, set for a 3:00 p.m. start.

THE MATCH

Xavier took the doubles point with a 6-1 win for Imani Graham and Anna Roggenburk on the No. 1 court and a 6-3 win for Ellie Brotherton and Abby Nugent on the No. 2 court. Emily Flowers and Sofia Mazzucato led 5-3 on No. 3 when the point was decided.

The doubles win was the eighth straight for Imani Graham and Anna Roggenburk, moving the pair to 9-1 on the season.

Abigail Siminski picked up a second point for the Musketeers, taking the No. 4 court, 6-0, 6-4 and Imani Graham took a 7-5, 6-2 win on the No. 1 court to make it a 3-0 Xavier lead.

Abby Nugent took court No. 3 with a 6-3, 7-5 win to clinch the match for the Musketeers.

Sofia Mazzucato picked up her sixth-straight win, taking the No. 5 court, 6-0, 7-6 (4) to make it 5-0 Xavier. Emily Flowers won her seventh singles match of the season, taking the No. 6 court, 7-5, 6-1.

On the final court, Anna Roggenburk battled back after falling in the first set to take a 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 win on No. 2 to complete the sweep.
