Musketeers Collect Two More Conference Titles During Day Two at BIG EAST

INDIANAPOLIS – Xavier men's and women's swimming wrapped up day two of four at the 2024 BIG EAST Championships with a pair of new school records and a pair of conference titles.
Kali Fischer and Olivia Oyster both set new program-best marks during prelims, and Oyster hit an NCAA B-Cut time in the finals on the way to a conference championship. On the men's side, the Musketeers collected a third relay gold.
Day three of the four day championship beings on Friday at 10 a.m. with prelims, with finals set for 5:45 p.m.

Swimming at BIG EAST - Day Two by Xavier Musketeers on Exposure
Kali Fischer and Olivia Oyster both set new program-best marks during prelims, and Oyster hit an NCAA B-Cut time in the finals on the way to a conference championship. On the men's side, the Musketeers collected a third relay gold.

WOMEN'S NOTABLE
- After setting a new school record of 4:54.17 in the prelims of the 500 free, Kali Fischer took part in the Championship final, placing eighth with a time of 4:54.62.
- Clara Keiser took the top spot in the Consolation final of the 500 IM, setting a time of 4:54.33. Erin Ritz, Sydney Smith and Charlie Ramey took part in the Bonus final.
- Jordyn Libler won the Consolation final of the 200 IM with a time of 2:02.88. Amy Van Son placed 10th and Julia Sweetman finished in 15th place.
- Olivia Oyster set a school record, and NCAA B-Cut time, of 22.52 to be the top qualifier in the 50 free during the prelims. In the Championship final, she again hit the B-Cut threshold with a time of 22.61 to win the gold medal.
- Oyster's BIG EAST Championship in the event is the first conference title in the 50 free for the Xavier women's team, and the first individual title for Xavier since Taylor Hogan won the 200 fly in 2020.
- Alexis Worrall led a pair of Musketeers in the Consolation final of the 50 free, tying for 12th. Erin Merke placed 16th. Molly Dynda touched the wall first in the Bonus final and Reese Turner also took part in the Bonus final.
- Olivia Oyster, Kali Fischer, Erin Merke and Alexis Worrall closed out the evening on the women's side with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay, setting a time of 1:32.38.
- Xavier has 349.5 points to stand in fourth place after six races as well as a diving event on the opening evening in which the Musketeers did not compete.

MEN'S NOTABLE
- Luke Peterson took part in the Championship final of the 500 free, placing fifth in the finals with a time of 4:26.49.
- Nathan Wall took part in the Consolation final of the 500 free, placing 10th, Adam Lamping placed 11th, Ryan Knipp finished 14th and Caz Mikula finished 15th.
- Jack Parker, who set the top time In the prelims at 1:48.64, placed fourth in the Championship final with a time of 1:49.16, leading four Musketeers in the A-Final. Michael Benington touched just behind him in fifth place. Aiden Leamer finished seventh and Aiden Neuman placed eighth.
- Gage Hannewyk led four Musketeers in the Championship final of the 50 free, setting a time of 20.41 to place fifth. CJ Sorensen and Ethan Saunders tied for sixth and Kyle Hudson placed eighth.
- Matthew Adanin won the Consolation final of the 50 free.
- Xavier's men closed out night two by continuing to dominate in relays, with CJ Sorensen, Ethan Saunders, Matthew Adanin and Gage Hannewyk taking the 200 free relay in a time of 1:20.10.
- The gold medal in the 200 free relay made Xavier 3-for-3 in winning relays for the meet, and marked the sixth-straight year Xavier has won the event.
- After six races total and a diving event on night two that Xavier did not compete in, the Musketeer men have 263 points to stand in second place.
