Men's Tennis Hosts Butler on Sunday Afternoon

Musketeers and Bulldogs will play at 2 PM if outdoors, 5 PM if indoors
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis returns to Cincinnati to host Butler on Sunday, March 2. The match is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start outdoors at the Jim and Mary Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility on the campus of Xavier. If weather prevents playing outdoors, the match will be moved to Eastern Hills Indoors with a 5:00 p.m. start.

OPPONENT INFOÂ
- The Bulldogs are 3-11 with wins over Marion (Ind.), Georgetown and Cornerstone (Mich.)
- Butler went 15-10 overall and 4-1 in BIG EAST play. BU picked up 4-1 wins over DePaul and Creighton in the Quarterfinals and Semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament, finishing runners up after falling to St. John's in the Championship match.
- The Bulldogs picked up the 6-1 win in last season's match-up.
LAST TIME OUT
-  Pascal Mosberger and Cristian Gonzalez picked up singles wins as Xavier men's tennis fell, 5-2, at Bellarmine.
- In doubles play, the Knights took the first decision, winning the No. 3 court against Kyle Totorica and Jorge Santamaria, 6-2. Ryan Cahill and Pascal Mosberger combined for a 6-3 win on the No. 1 court, but Bellarmine took the point with a win in tiebreaks on No. 2 against Charlie Temming and Cristian Gonzalez, 7-6 (3).
- Bellarmine moved ahead 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Ryan Cahill on No. 1 singles and made it a 3-0 lead with a win over Marco Pennelli, 6-4, 6-2, on No. 3 singles.
- Pascal Mosberger took a 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4) win on the No. 2 court to cut the lead back to 3-1.
- Bellarmine took a 6-4, 6-1 win over Alex Adamec to clinch the win at 4-1.
- Cristian Gonzalez picked up a 6-2, 7-5 win on No. 5 while Charlie Temming fell 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 on No. 4 to set the final score at 5-2 in favor of the Knights.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Next week, Xavier travels to Austin Peay on Friday, March 8 in Clarksville, Tenn., set for an 11:00 a.m. start.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns six letterwinners from last year's squad that finished the season at 12-9 overall.
- The 2022-23 season marked a second-straight season with 12 wins, the first time the program had back-to-back 10-plus win season since the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.
- The Musketeer returners include Ryan Cahill, Pascal Mosberger, Marco Pennelli, Jorge Santamaria, Charlie Temming and Kyle Totorica.
- Xavier also added a pair of freshmen, Alex Adamec and Cristian Gonzalez.
