Musketeers Drop Game Two with Indiana State

Game three with the Sycamores is set for Sunday at 1 PM
Aedan Anderson led off for the Musketeers in the first, reaching on a fielding error to give the Musketeers a base runner. Hayden Christiansen hit his second home run of the series, to left center, to drive in two runs and give Xavier a 2-0 lead.
ISU responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning and the 2-2 tie held in to the fifth inning, when the Sycamores moved in front 4-2 on a two-run home run. The home run started an eight-run frame for ISU, taking a 10-2 lead into the bottom of the fifth.
Xavier responded in the next half inning, with Aedan Anderson taking a one-out walk to put a runner on for Matt McCormick, who put a ball on top of the Heidt Family Champions Center to drive in two runs. With two outs in the inning, Isaac Wachsmann got aboard on an error, Connor Misch was hit by a pitch and Matthew DePrey hit a single to load the bases for Jared Cushing, who drove in two runs with a single up the middle to cut the ISU lead to four, 10-6.
The Musketeers added another run in the seventh after DePrey led off the inning with a double, moved to third when Cushing put the ball into play, and came home on a ground out from Luke Hammond, cutting the lead to 10-7.
In the ninth, Xavier got the tying run to the plate after DePrey reached on a fielding error and Hammond walked, but the Musketeers were unable to drive a run across, setting the final score at 10-7 in favor of the Sycamores.
The series finale with Indiana State is set for Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Hayden Field

- Luke Hammond and Grant Stephenson each had a hit as well, as the Musketeers finished with an 11-8 advantage in the category.
- Logan Schmidt made the start, going 4.2 innings, allowing seven earned runs on five hits, finishing with three strikeouts to three walks.
- Connor Bailey entered with two outs and the bases loaded in the fifth, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks.
- Jake Lambdin came in to pick up the final out of the fifth, pitching 3.0 scoreless innings without allowing a hit, walking one and striking out one.
- Nolan Hughes entered for the final out of the eighth, getting out of the inning with a strikeout. He went the final 1.1 innings, not allowing a run or a hit, walking one while striking out three.
