Musketeers Capture Series vs Falcons, Post Seven-Run Victory on Friday

Jared Cushing has five runs, five RBI and three extra-base hits in the series
The Musketeers improved to 14-13 on the year, while the Falcons dropped to 11-10. Xavier has now won six of its last eight games.
Hayden Christiansen hit an RBI single to center field in the first inning to give Xavier an early lead. Bowling Green scored its first run in the top of the third inning before Xavier scored three unanswered runs over the next two frames, taking a 4-1 advantage.
Bowling Green scored a run in the top of the fifth inning to close within two runs (4-2), but the Musketeers added a run in the bottom of the frame to push their lead to three runs (5-2).
Xavier scored five runs on five hits and one error in the seventh inning to take a 10-2 advantage. Bowling Green scored its final run in the ninth inning on a Landon Roque solo home run.
The series finale is set for Saturday, March 30 at Hayden Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

- Jared Cushing went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, a double and a home run. In two games vs the Falcons, the senior is 3-for-6 with five RBI, five runs and three extra-base hits. He has reached base safely in 12 straight games and now has seven multi-RBI games and five mult-hit games on the year.
- Grant Stephenson went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs. The senior infielder recorded his first home run of the season in the victory. He now has three multi-hit games on the year.
- Matthew DePrey rounded out the multi-hit Musketeers, going 2-for-3 with a run. The catcher now has eight multi-hit games on the year.
- Luke Hammond, Connor Misch, Aedan Anderson, Matt McCormick, Hayden Christiansen and Carter Hendrickson all added a hit. McCormick has reached base safely in every game this season and has reached base safely in 36 games dating back to the 2023 season.
- Freshman Tyler Stack posted his first career multi-hit game as he went 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI and a triple.Â
- Xavier had 10 different players record a hit in the game, while eight different players scored a run. Xavier had 14 hits in the game, the team's 13th game of the year with 10 or more hits. The 14 hits are the second most in a game this season for the Musketeers (had 15 hits in a 9-1 win at Louisville on Feb. 21).
- Xavier has scored 10 or more runs in three straight games. The Musketeers have scored 10 or more runs in a game five times this season.
- Xavier's pitching staff matched it season high in strikeouts with 15 (also had 15 strikeouts in a 10-7 win vs Wright State on March 26).
- Logan Schmidt (4-2) threw a season-high nine strikeouts in five innings of work. The RHP allowed five hits, two runs and one walk.
- Tyler Sausville threw a season-high four strikeouts in two innings of scoreless relief.
- Matthew Aukerman didn't allow a hit in one inning of scoreless relief.
- Freshman Aiden Cook made his season debut on Friday, throwing two strikeouts and surrendering three hits and one run in 0.2 innings of relief.
- Jack Niedringhaus replaced Cook with two outs and a runner on first and second base. Bowling Green's Zack Horky hit the first pitch he saw to shortstop Jake Lambdin who threw the ball to Luke Hammond for the force out at third base to end the game.
