Musketeers wrap up the weekend at 2-1 against the Falcons
The Falcons got on the board early with a four-run top of the first, and added two more in the fourth to lead 6-0.
The Musketeers got a pair back in the bottom of the fourth, with Tyler Stack, Jared Cushing and Aedan Anderson each taking a two-out walk to load the bases. Grant Stephenson was hit by a pitch to drive in Xavier's first run, and Luke Hammond got on with a walk to make it 6-2.
Another BGSU run in the fifth extended the lead back to 7-2.
Aedan Anderson hit a solo home run in the sixth to make it 7-3. The Falcons got the run back in the top of the seventh.
In the bottom of the seventh, Matt McCormick got on with a double, then scored on single from Hayden Christiansen to cut it to 8-4.
In the ninth, a single from Matthew DePrey, a walk from Stack and a single from Cushing loaded the bases, bringing the tying run to the plate with two outs, but the Musketeers were unable to drive a run across, setting the final score at 8-4.
Xavier is next in action on Tuesday, April 2, facing Cincinnati in the first game of the Joe Nuxhall Classic, set for a 6:00 p.m. first pitch at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.

- Aedan Anderson went 2-of-4 with the plate, hitting his sixth home run of the season, a solo shot, to finish with an RBI and a run scored.

- Jonathan Kelly entered with one out and the bases loaded in the first, not allowing another run to cross the plate in the inning. Kelly went 3.2 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits and a walk, striking out four.
- Jake Lambdin entered for the fifth inning, going 1.2 innings, allowing one run on one hit with two strikeouts and one walk.
- Alex Vera came in for the final out of the sixth, going 1.1 innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out one.
- Nolan Hughes pitched the final 2.0 innings, not allowing a run or a hit, striking out two and walking a pair.
