Women's Tennis Adds Notre Dame to Schedule this Weekend

Musketeers and Fighting Irish will play on Sunday in Louisville
ORLANDO, Fla. - Xavier women's tennis added a match-up with Notre Dame to the schedule, with the Musketeers set to face the Fighting Irish on Sunday, March 10 at 4:30 p.m. at the University of Louisville's Bass Rudd Tennis Center.
Xavier is 10-3 on the season after taking a 6-1 win over Villanova on Thursday afternoon.

OPPONENT INFO
- Notre Dame is 9-5 on the season and 1-2 in ACC play. The Irish will play Louisville on Sunday ahead of the match with Xavier.
- The Fighting Irish are coming off a 16-11 season in 2023, where Notre Dame advanced to the second round in NCAA Tournament after topping Ball State in the first round, eventually falling to hosts Michigan.
- Xavier faced Notre Dame last season in South Bend, Ind., with the Irish taking a 7-0 sweep.

- Xavier women's tennis made it four-straight wins with a 6-1 victory over the Villanova Wildcats on Thursday.
- In doubles action, Ellie Brotherton and Abby Nugent combined to take a 6-0 win on the No. 2 court for the first decision, then Emily Flowers and Sofia Mazzucato combined for a 6-1 win on No. 3 to clinch the point for Xavier. Imani Graham and Anna Roggenburk were leading 5-3 on the No. 1 court when the point was decided.
- In singles play, Imani Graham took the No. 1 court, 6-1, 6-2, to make it a 2-0 Xavier lead. Anna Roggenburk made it a 3-0 Xavier advantage with a 6-3, 6-0 win on the No. 2 court.
- Sofia Mazzucato picked up her ninth-straight, and 10th overall, singles win on the No. 5 court, 6-3, 6-2, to clinch the match for the Musketeers,
- Emily Flowers took court No. 6, 6-1, 7-6 (4) and Abigail Siminski won on No. 4, 7-5, 6-1 to give the Musketeers a 6-0 advantage.
- On the final court, Villanova took a point after topping Abby Nugent battled back for a 6-1, 5-7, 13-11 on No. 3, setting the final score at 6-1.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns six from last year's squad that brought home the program's third-straight, and fourth overall, BIG EAST Championship and earned Xavier's fourth bid to the NCAA Championships.
- The 2022-23 Musketeers finished the season 14-8 overall with a 6-0 record against BIG EAST opponents.
- Among Xavier's returnees are 2023 BIG EAST Player of the Year, Imani Graham, and BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, Abby Nugent.
- Anna Roggenburk, Blessing Nwaozuzu, Emily Flowers and Abigail Siminski also return for the Musketeers.
- Xavier added a pair of freshmen, Ellie Brotherton and Sofia Mazzucato.
- The Musketeers also added Elizabeth Pendergast, a transfer from Cincinnati, who joined the program in the 2024 spring semester.
