Baseball Falls in Game Two Against St. John's

Connor Misch, Carter Hendrickson homer in 9-3 loss
CINCINNATI  - Xavier baseball fell, 9-3, in game two with the Red Storm on Saturday afternoon to even the series at 1-1. Xavier moved to 22-21 overall with a 6-5 record in BIG EAST play.
Xavier took a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI single from Matt McCormick driving in Aedan Anderson, who got on with a walk.
The Musketeers' one-run lead held into the fourth, where the Red Storm scored a pair to move in front 2-1.
St. John's led into the bottom of the sixth where Connor Misch led off with a solo home run, his fourth home run of the season, to tie up at 2-2. In the next half inning, SJU scored six runs to take an 8-2 lead.
Carter Hendrickson's third home run of the season came in the eighth inning, a solo shot to left, to make it 8-3, but the Red Storm got the run back in the next half inning to set the final score at 9-3.
The series finale with the Red Storm is set for Sunday, April 28 with a 12:00 p.m. first pitch at Hayden Field.

- Carter Hendrickson went 3-of-4 at the plate, finishing with an RBI and a run scored after hitting his third home run of the season.
 - Connor Misch (1-4) finished with an RBI and run scored on his sixth-inning home, his third of the season.
 - Matt McCormick (1-4) drove in an RBI in the first inning with a single.
 - Aedan Anderson got on with a walk in the first, coming around to score a run.
 - Jared Cushing and Luke Hammond each finished with a hit and Jake Lambdin got aboard with a walk.
 
ON THE MOUND
- Logan Schmidt made the start, going 4.1 innings with two runs allowed, both unearned, on two hits, finishing with one strikeout to one walk.
 - Nick Boyle entered with one on and one out in the fifth, getting the Musketeers out of the inning with a strikeout and a ground out. Boyle went 2.0 innings, allowing four runs, all unearned, not giving up a hit and finishing with four strikeouts to four walks.
 - Connor Bailey entered with one on and one out in the seventh, going 2.0 innings, allowing three runs, two unearned on four hits and a walk.
 - Ashton Chronister came in with one on and one out in the ninth, going the final 0.2 innings with out allowing a run, giving up one hit.
