Xavier returns to Hayden Field to host Oklahoma on Tuesday
The loss snapped a six-game win streak for the Musketeers, moving Xavier to 28-23 overall and 11-7 in BIG EAST play. With the two wins over Georgetown this weekend, the Musketeers secured a top-four finish in the league and a bid to the BIG EAST Tournament in Mason, Ohio. Xavier is currently in fourth place in the BIG EAST standings.
Xavier led 2-0 after the top of the first, with Isaac Wachsmann's second home run of the series bringing in two runs, with Aedan Anderson scoring after reaching on an error.
The Hoyas got a run back in the bottom of the frame, but in the second, Xavier got the first two aboard, with Connor Misch hitting a single and Carter Hendrickson getting on with a walk. Grant Stephenson singled through the left side to bring Misch in, giving Xavier a two-run advantage again at 3-1.
In the bottom of the frame, the Hoyas' bats got going, scoring nine runs on seven hits to take a 10-3 lead.
Xavier scored a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings, with Anderson and Wachsmann driving in runs in the fourth, and Matthew DePrey and Luke Hammond coming home. In the fifth Stephenson took a bases-loaded walk to drive in Matt McComick, and Hammond drove in Hendrickson with a sac fly to get the Musketeers within four at 11-7.Â
The Hoyas stretched the lead back out with three-run frames in the fifth and sixth. Xavier added one more run on a solo shot from Isaac Wachsmann, his second homer of the day, but the Musketeers trailed 17-8 headed to the bottom of the seventh where the Hoyas added another run to wrap the game up on a run rule at 18-8.
The Musketeers return to Cincinnati to wrap up the regular season, hosting Oklahoma on Tuesday, May 14, set for a 3:00 p.m. start at Hayden Field.

- Isaac Wachsmann went 3-of-4, hitting with two home runs to give him three for the series and nine for the season. The DH drove in a career-high four RBI and finished with two runs scored.
- Grant Stephenson finished 1-of-3 with a walk, driving in a pair of RBI.

- Ashton Chronister entered for the final out of the second, allowing two runs on on one hit and a walk, picking the out on a strikeout.
- Connor Bailey entered for the third, allowing one run on two hits in 2.0 innings, striking out a pair and walking two.
- Nick Boyle entered for the fifth inning, allowing three runs on a hit and two walks in 0.1 inning.
- Matthew Aukerman entered with the bases loaded and one out in the fifth, allowing three runs on two hits and two walks in 1.2 innings of work, finishing with three strikeouts.
- Eric Podgorny entered in the seventh, going 0.2 innings, allowing one unearned run and giving up a walk.
