Men's Tennis Heads to No. 3 Ohio State and Louisville this Weekend

Musketeers face Buckeyes on Saturday, Cardinals on Monday
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis heads out back on the road this weekend, traveling to No. 3 Ohio State on Saturday, Jan. 18, set for a 10:00 a.m. start. The Musketeers continue play on Monday, Jan. 20, traveling to Louisville to face the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m.
OHIO STATE
- The match with Xavier is the first dual of the season for the Buckeyes.
- Ohio State came in at No. 3 in the ITA Preseason Poll after going 34-2 overall and 9-0 in Big Ten play last season. The Buckeyes won the Big Ten Tournament title and advanced to the 2024 NCAA Tournament Semifinals.
- The Musketeers last faced Ohio State in January 2024, falling 7-0 in Columbus.
LOUISVILLE
- Louisville opened the 2025 dual season with a pair of wins over Eastern Kentucky on January 15.
- The Cardinals finished 14-14 overall in 2024, with a 3-9 record in ACC play.
- The Musketeers faced UofL last season, falling 6-1 in Louisville.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Xavier opens its home schedule next weekend, hosting a pair of matches at Eastern Hills.
- The Musketeers host Lipscomb on Friday, January 24, then return on Saturday, January 25 to host Furman.
LAST TIME OUT
- Xavier up the dual season with the first of back-to-back Top-10 opponents, falling, 7-0, at No. 7 Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon in Lexington, Ky.
- In doubles play, Kentucky picked up the first decision on court No. 1, taking a 6-1 win over Charlie Temming and Ryan Cahill. The Wildcats clinched the point on the No. 3 court with a 6-1 win over Christian Gonzalez and Kyle Totorica. Alex Kotarski and Pascal Mosberger trailed 5-1 on court No. 2 when the point was decided.
- In singles, Xavier fell behind 2-0 aft Kentucky picked up a point on the No. 4 court, topping Christian Gonzalez, 6-0, 6-0. UK moved ahead 3-0 after Ryan Cahill, taking on No. 39 Jaden Weekes on the No. 1 singles court, fell 6-2, 6-1. UK sealed the win at 4-0 on the No. 4 court, with Charlie Temming falling to #79 Charlelie Cosnet, 6-3, 6-2.
- After the match was decided, Pascal Mosberger fell on court No. 2, 6-4, 6-4, UK took court No. 5 against Marco Pennelli 6-3, 6-3, and Andrew Spurck fell in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-3, to set the final score at 7-0.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns six letter-winners from last year's squad, including All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Ryan Cahill.
- The Musketeer also return Christian Gonzalez, Pascal Mosberger, Marco Pennelli, Charlie Temming and Kyle Totorica.
- Xavier also added a pair of freshmen, Alex Kotarski and Andrew Spurck.
