Freemantle, Swain each score 15 to lead five Musketeers in double figures
CINCINNATI - Five Musketeers hit double figures, led by 15 each for Zach Freemantle and Dailyn Swain, as Xavier knocked off No. 19 UConn, 76-72, in front of a crowd of 10,613 at Cintas Center on Saturday night.
Xavier moved to 13-8 overall and 5-5 BIG EAST, while UConn dropped to to 14-6 overall and 6-3 in BIG EAST play.
The Musketeers head back out on the road for the next match-up, traveling to Omaha to face Creighton on Wednesday, January 29, set for 8:00 p.m. ET start on FS1.

Xavier moved to 13-8 overall and 5-5 BIG EAST, while UConn dropped to to 14-6 overall and 6-3 in BIG EAST play.

NOTABLE
- The Musketeers hit the opening basket, trading buckets with the Huskies for hte first five minutes of the game before using a 14-3 run to extend the lead to 10, Xavier's largest lead of the first half.
- The Huskies responded to outscore Xavier 18-4 over a five minute stretch to take a four-point lead, UConn's largest of the first half. Threes from Zach Freemantle and Marcus Foster helped the Musketeers keep pace and a bucket by Dayvion McKnight just before the buzzer set the halftime score at 41-40 in favor of Connecticut. Dailyn Swain led the Musketeers with 10 points in the first half.
- Xavier shot 53.6 percent (15-28) overall for the first half, connecting on 4-of-9 threes, while UConn shot 51.7 percent (15-29) overall, making 6-of-15 from outside in the first half.
- The Musketeers moved back in front to open the second half before UConn scored six straight too lead as many as four, matching the Huskies' largest lead of the game. Xavier outscored Connecticut 13-2 over the next five minutes to move back in front by multiple possessions, extending the lead out to 10, 69-59, with five minutes remaining in the game.
- UConn had a late 9-3 run to pull within two in the final two minutes, but a pair of Marcus Foster free throws sealed the win, setting the final score at 76-72.
- Dailyn Swain finished with 15 points, shooting 6-of-7 from the floor. Swain also led the Musketeers with four assists.
- Zach Freemantle matched Swain for team high with 15 points and grabbed five rebounds.
- Dante Maddox Jr. finished with 14 points after leading Xavier with nine points in the second half. He finished 5-of-6 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from three.
- Jerome Hunter scored 12 points, going 5-of-5 from the free throw line, and grabbed five rebounds, including a pair of offensive boards.
- Dayvion McKnight added 11 points for the Musketeers.
- Marcus Foster led the Musketeers with seven rebounds, as the Huskies finished with a 35-28 advantage on the glass.
- Both teams shot 47.3 percent from the floor, connecting on 26-of-55 field goals. Xavier shot 41.2 percent from three (7-17) while the Huskies shot 26.9 percent from outside (7-26). The Musketeers shot 17-of-24 from the free throw line while UConn connected on 13-of-17 free throws.
- Xavier had a 13-9 advantage on turnovers for a 22-16 advantage on points off miscues. The Musketeers also led 26-19 on fastbreak points.
- The Musketeers led for over 30 minutes of game time.
