Musketeers return to Eastern Hills on Friday to host EKU

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis fell to Furman, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club.

The Musketeers return to Eastern Hills on Friday, January, 31 to host Eastern Kentucky, set for a 2:00 p.m. start.

The Match

In doubles play, Furman picked up a 6-2 win on the No. 1 court, topping Ryan Cahill and Charlie Temming. Christian Gonzalez and Kyle Totorica took a 6-4 win on No. 2 singles and Andrew Spurck and Marco Pennelli won, 7-6 (5) on the No. 3 court to clinch the point for the Musketeers.

The Paladins tied it at 1-1 after taking a 6-1, 6-0 win on the No. 6 court against Kyle Totorica and moved in front 2-1 with a 7-6 (10), 6-1 win on the No. 2 court against Charlie Temming.

A 6-3, 6-2 win over Marco Pennelli on the No. 4 court made it a 3-1 Furman lead, and the Paladins clinched the match at 4-1 with a 7-6 (3), 6-4 win on the No. 1 court against Ryan Cahill.

Christian Gonzalez took a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win on the No. 3 court to pick up a point for the Musketeers. Andrew Spurck fell, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 on the No. 5 court to set the final score at 5-2 in favor of Furman.
