Volleyball Wins Seventh Straight Match

The Musketeers defeated St. John's in four sets on Friday night to improve to 19-2.
CINCINNATI - The Xavier volleyball team remains undefeated on their home court after a 3-1 win over St. John's on Friday night.
The Musketeers improve are 8-0 inside Cintas Center this season, with four of those wins coming in BIG EAST play.
XU was dominant out of the gate, hitting a massive .500 in the first set with zero errors combined. McKinley Boehm and Anna Taylor each recorded three kills in the opening frame.
SJU fought back in the second set, reducing the Musketeers' hitting efficiency to just .083. The Johnnies took advantage of a 7-0 run to take a 14-9 lead, but the Musketeers responded with an 8-0 run of their own to retake a three-point lead.
St. John's put on a defensive clinic in the second frame with their libero recording 12 digs alone to help fight off the Xavier attack and even up the match with a 25-23 set two win.
The Musketeers combined for five blocks in the third set to hold SJU to a .056 clip led by Margo Kemp's three block assists to go along with her five kills in the same frame.
Xavier closed out the final set hitting .371 behind six kills on seven attempts from McKinley Boehm.
XU improves to 19-2 overall with an 8-1 BIG EAST record while St. John's falls to 6-16 with a 2-7 mark in league play.
Xavier will host Seton Hall on Saturday afternoon in Cintas Center. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
