Volleyball Defeats DePaul for 25th Win

The Musketeers won their 13th straight match with a 3-1 win over DePaul
CINCINNATI - The Xavier volleyball team won its 25th match of the season with a 3-1 win over DePaul.
The Musketeers match their best win total since 2001, the first time XU made the NCAA Tournament.
DePaul got out to an early 10-2 lead in the opening set, but the Musketeers bounced back with an 8-0 run to take the lead at 13-12.
The Blue Demons continued to fight back, holding XU to just a .140 clip and take a 25-23 set one victory.
Xavier dropped the first set of a match for the first time since October 4.
The second set continued to be a back-and-forth battle between both sides with 10 tie scores, but the Musketeers pulled out a 25-23 win behind four kills from Anna Taylor.
The Musketeers dominated the fourth set, holding DePaul to a -.231 clip on just four kills. Emma Grace tallied six kills in the set to lead XU to a 25-14 victory and take a 2-1 lead.
Xavier closed out the final set hitting .343 behind seven kills from Grace and a combined 21 digs. The Musketeers took a 12-2 lead early and never looked back en route to a 25-15 win.
The Musketeers have secured the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament in Milwuakee on Nov. 22-23.
Xavier will close out the regular season tomorrow afternoon against Marquette looking to defend their 12-0 record at home.
XU improved to 25-2 overall with a 14-1 mark in conference play, tying their record for most BIG EAST wins in 2015. DePaul falls to 13-13 with a 6-9 league record.
