Taylor Records 1000th Career Kill in Win Over UConn

The Musketeers took down the Huskies in four sets to pick up their 12th straight victory.
CINCINNATI - The Xavier volleyball team defeated UConn, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon for the Musketeers' 24th win of the season.
The Musketeers have secured the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament with two games remaining in the regular season.
Xavier has won its last 12 straight matches and six straight on the road and are tied with No. 1 Nebraska for most wins in the country (24).
The last time Xavier won 24 games was 2007, the same year they made their second and most recent NCAA Tournament appearance.
XU opened the first set hitting a massive .500 with only one error. Emma Grace led the way with seven kills on a .538 clip while Macy Hatkevich dished out 12 assists to help Xaiver take a 25-19 set victory.
Grace contributed another seven kills in the second set while Anna Taylor added five including the 1000th of her career. XU led the whole way through the second set to take. 25-22 win.
The Huskies fought back in the third set with Emma Werkmeister tallying nine kills. UConn led through the majority of the third set until the Musketeers tied at 19-19, but the Huskies battled to a 25-222 set three victory.
The fourth set was a defensive battle with both teams recording 18 digs. Xavier held UConn to a .000 clip in the set behind four blocks including three from Taylor. The Huskies led by as much as six in the set, but the Musketeers fought off three set points and ended the game on a 3-0 run behind two kills from Charlotte Moriarty to take the set at 28-26.Â

Xavier wraps up the regular season at home next weekend against DePaul and Marquette. First serve against the Blue Demons is set for 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Musketeers will then face the Golden Eagles at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday for Senior Day.
