Musketeers face Hoosiers at 11 AM on Sunday
CINCINNATIÂ - Xavier women's tennis travels to Bloomington, Ind., on Sunday, February 9, to face Indiana in the last of six-straight road matches to open the season.

INDIANA
- Indiana is 3-2 after opening the season with wins over Cincinnati (6-1), Butler (5-2) and Southern Indiana (7-0) before falling to Virginia Tech (4-0) and Marshall (4-3)
- IU went 6-20 last season with a 0-11 mark in Big Ten play.
- Xavier picked up a 5-2 win over the Hoosiers last season in Cincinnati.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- The Musketeers will open up the home portion of the schedule next weekend, hosting Northern Kentucky at Eastern Hills on Friday, February 14, set for a 1:00 p.m. start at Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club.
- Xavier heads back out on the road on Sunday, February 16, traveling to South Bend, Indiana, to face Notre Dame, set for an 11 a.m. start.
WEEKLY AWARDS
- Junior Abby Nugent was named BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week by the league office on Monday after going 2-0 in the No. 2 doubles spot over the weekend against Purdue and Memphis.
- Nugent, originally from Springboro, Ohio, picked up the first singles decision against Purdue, taking a 6-4, 6-3 win on the No. 2 court to tie the match at 1-1 as the Musketeers battled to a 4-3 loss to the Boilermakers on Friday. She also picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win on No. 2 singles to help the Musketeers take the 4-1 win over the Tigers on Saturday, marking her third-straight singles win.
- The pair of Nugent and Clara Owen, who were ranked No. 17 in the ITA's most recent doubles rankings, also picked up a win over Memphis on the No. 1 doubles court, 6-4, to help the Musketeers take the doubles point.
LAST TIME OUT
- Xavier women's tennis wrapped up its trip to Purdue last weekend by taking a 4-1 win over Memphis/
- In doubles play, Abby Nugent and Clara Owen combined to take a 6-4 win on the No. 1 court. Memphis picked up a decision on the No. 3 court, taking a 7-6 (2) win against Madeleine Rexroat and Ellie Brotherton. Emily Flowers and Elizabeth Pendergast combined for a 7-6 (3) win on the No. 2 court to clinch the point for the Musketeers.
- In singles, Memphis took a 6-4, 6-1 win on the No. 1 court against Elizabeth Pendergast. The Musketeers picked up a win on court No. 2, a a 6-1, 6-1 win for Abby Nugent.
- Xavier also took court No. 4, with Emily Flowers taking a 6-2, 6-1 victory, and on court No. 5, a 6-4, 6-4 win for Abigail Siminski, to set the final score at 4-1 in favor of the Musketeers.
THE MUSKETEERS
- The Musketeers are looking for their fifth-straight, and sixth overall, BIG EAST Championship, and look to make a return trip to the NCAA Championship.
- Xavier returned six student-athletes from last year's BIG EAST Championship roster including juniors Emily Flowers, Abby Nugent and Abigail Siminski as well as sophomores Ellie Brotherton and Sofia Mazzucato and senior transfer Elizabeth Pendergast, who made her debut as a Musketeer this fall. Xavier also added a trio of freshmen to the roster, Clara Owen, Madeleine Rexroat and Natalie Smitek.
- Xavier wrapped up the fall schedule with Abby Nugent and Clara Owen becoming the first players in program history to compete in doubles at the NCAA Individual Championships. The pair earned the bid after advancing to the finals of the ITA Conference Masters Championships.
- Madeleine Rexroat also took part in the ITA Conference Masters Championships, representing the BIG EAST in singles. Elizabeth Pendergast and Emily Flowers competed at the ITA Sectional Championships as a doubles team, with Pendergast also playing in the singles draw.
