The Musketeers will be collecting donations through April 27 when members of the program will shave their heads in support of the cause. The head-shaving will occur following Xavier's home game against Georgetown on Sunday, April 27.
Xavier has worked with Vs. Cancer since 2014 to help support children battling cancer, raising over $80k to help accelerate the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation's efforts towards a future without childhood brain cancer. The Musketeers' efforts helped the Vs. Cancer organization make a $100,000 gift to Cincinnati Children's Hospital, helping to establish its Proton Therapy Center.
Dave Mays, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation's Director of Vs. Cancer, understands how vital these athletes are to the nonprofit's mission. "Vs. Cancer athletes are changing the game for kids and families across the country," he says. "Brain tumors are the deadliest and most commonly diagnosed childhood cancer, but each Vs. Cancer game gets us one step closer to a cure. Together we are creating a brighter, better future – a future without childhood brain cancer."
About the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation
Since 1991, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation has led the way in funding research into pediatric brain tumors, supporting families affected by this disease, and advocating for policies that help patients, survivors, and their loved ones. Dedicated wholly to addressing this rare disease and guided by the experiences of patients, survivors, their parents, and siblings, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation is the only organization to meet families' needs along every step of their cancer journey.
The largest patient advocacy funder of pediatric brain tumor research, the foundation also funds and advocates for innovative projects that lead to vital discoveries, new clinical trials, and better treatments – all bringing us closer to a cure. We're able to do that because of people and partners committed to supporting families and ending childhood brain cancer. Learn more at curethekids.org.
