
Women's Tennis Hosts UConn, Face Louisville and Miami on the road

Musketeers face UConn Thursday, Louisville on Saturday, and play pair of matches against the Hurricanes on Monday
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis is set to play four matches this weekend, starting with BIG EAST opponent UConn at Eastern Hills on Thursday, March 6, set for a 1:00 p.m. start.
Xavier then heads out on the road for three matches against ACC opponents, starting with Louisville on Saturday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m. The Musketeers then head south to face the Miami Hurricanes for a pair of matches on Monday, March 10, with match one set for 10 a.m. and match two scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

UCONN
- The Huskies are 7-2 on the season and 3-0 against BIG EAST squads, taking wins over Seton Hall, Georgetown and Creighton.
- Last season UConn went 13-8 overall and 4-3 in BIG EAST play, taking a win over Creighton in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament before falling to Xavier in the Semfinals.
- The Huskies and the Musketeers faced each other twice last season, with Xavier taking a 7-0 win in the regular season in Connecticut, and then a 4-0 win in the BIG EAST Semifinals.
LOUISVILLE
- The Cardinals are 5-4 on the season with a 1-0 record in ACC play so far.
- Last season UofL went 4-19 overall and 0-13 in ACC play.
- In last season's match, Xavier took the 7-0 win over the Cardinals in Louisville.
MIAMI
- Â The Hurricanes are 2-5 on the season with a 1-1 record in ACC play.
- Last season, Miami went 13-8 overall with an 8-4 record in ACC play, earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Hurricanes advanced to the Sweet 16 with wins Over FIU and Florida before falling to Michigan.
- This will be the first time the two programs face off.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Xavier will return to Cincinnati to host its next match, BIG EAST foe Georgetown, on Saturday, March 22.
LAST TIME OUT
- Xavier women's tennis picked up its fifth win of the season on Friday, taking a 5-2 win over Ball State at Eastern Hills on Friday, Feb. 28.
- In doubles play, Abby Nugent and Clara Owen picked up a 6-2 win on the No. 1 court, but Ball State picked up wins on the No. 2 court, 6-3, against Emily Flowers and Elizabeth Pendergast, and on the No. 3 court, 7-6 (6) against Madeleine Rexroat and Natalie Smitek to take the point.
- Ball State picked up a second point with a 6-4, 6-4 win on the No. 1 court against Elizabeth Pendergast. The Musketeers picked up the remainder of the singles decisions.Â
- Abby Nugent took a 6-1, 6-3 win on the No. 2 court. Madeleine Rexroat picked up her fifth singles win of the season, taking No. 3 6-2, 7-6 (2). Emily Flowers picked up her sixth singles win, a 6-3, 6-4 decision on the No. 4 court.
- Abigail Siminski picked up a 6-3, 6-3 decision on No. 5. Clara Owen won her fourth-straight singles match, taking No. 6, 6-2, 6-1.
THE MUSKETEERS
- The Musketeers are looking for their fifth-straight, and sixth overall, BIG EAST Championship, and look to make a return trip to the NCAA Championship.
- Xavier returned six student-athletes from last year's BIG EAST Championship roster including juniors Emily Flowers, Abby Nugent and Abigail Siminski as well as sophomores Ellie Brotherton and Sofia Mazzucato and senior transfer Elizabeth Pendergast, who made her debut as a Musketeer this fall. Xavier also added a trio of freshmen to the roster, Clara Owen, Madeleine Rexroat and Natalie Smitek.
- Xavier wrapped up the fall schedule with Abby Nugent and Clara Owen becoming the first players in program history to compete in doubles at the NCAA Individual Championships. The pair earned the bid after advancing to the finals of the ITA Conference Masters Championships.
- Madeleine Rexroat also took part in the ITA Conference Masters Championships, representing the BIG EAST in singles. Elizabeth Pendergast and Emily Flowers competed at the ITA Sectional Championships as a doubles team, with Pendergast also playing in the singles draw.
