NASHVILLE - Xavier baseball fell in game one at Vanderbilt, 15-3, in seven innings. The Musketeers moved to 7-7 on the season.

After the Dores took a 3-0 lead in the first, the lead held in the third where a solo home run from Eddie Peters got the Musketeers on the board, 3-1. In the next at bat, Jake Lambdin got on with a single and Carter Hendrickson cleared the bases with his third home run of the season to tie it up a 3-3.

In the bottom of the fourth Vanderbilt posted another three-run inning to move back in front, taking a 6-3 lead into the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh, the Commodores scored nine runs to go ahead 15-3, taking the win with the run rule in effect.

The Musketeers and the Commodores continue the series on Saturday, with game two set for a 3:00 p.m. ET first pitch.

AT THE PLATE

Carter Hendrickson drove in two RBI and scored a run with his team-high matching third home run of the season, a two-run shot in the third.
Eddie Peters finished with an RBI and a run scored after hitting his first collegiate home run, a solo shot in the third inning.
Jake Lambdin extended his reached safely streak to 14, getting aboard with single in the third and scoring a run on Hendrickson's home run.
Aedan Anderson also recorded a hit, finishing 1-of-3.
Connor Misch extended his reached base streak to 14 with a walk.

ON THE MOUND

Jake Hooker made the start, allowing six runs, three earned, on seven hits, striking out one and walking one.
Jack Nobe went 2.0 innings out of the bullpen, allowing six runs on four hits and two walks, striking out two.
Jack DeTienne entered with the bases loaded and no outs in the seventh. He picked up two outs, including a strikeout, before a four-run home run ended the game on a run rule.
