Pozzato was 10th in the MVC in scoring.
CINCINNATI --- Xavier University men's basketball head coach Richard Pitino announced today that he has received a signed athletic aid agreement from 6-7 forward Gabriel Pozzato, who played as a freshman last season at Evansville. Pozzato, a native of Italy, was named to the 2024-25 Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman Team.
"Gabriel Pozzato has tremendous upside," said Pitino. "He can score at all three levels. He has size and skill and will be a huge part of our success on and off the court."
Pozzato averaged 14.9 points and 4.4 rebounds in his one season at Evansville, while being named Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week three times. His 14.9 ppg. scoring average ranked 10th in the MVC this past season and ranks second all-time for Evansville freshmen.
Pozzato scored in double figures in 19 of his 24 games played, including seven games of 20 points or more. He scored a career-high 29 points in a win over Murray State on Jan. 29, while hitting 10-14 from the field, including 4-7 3-pointers. He scored 28 points, hitting 10-16 from the field, at North Texas on Nov. 5.
Prior to Evansville, Pozzato attended NBA Academy in Australia where he averaged 8.6 ppg. in his final season. He participated in the FIBA U18 European Championship for Italy and averaged 6.9 ppg. in seven games.
