Women's Tennis Advance to BIG EAST Championship Match with 4-1 Win over St. John's

The Musketeers will now play for the program's fifth-straight, and sixth overall, BIG EAST title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. The Championship match is set for Sunday, April 20 at 9:00 a.m. the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center.
Xavier will face the No. 4 seed Villanova in the Championship match. The Wildcats are 12-11 on the season, and advanced to the Championship with a 4-3 win over No. 5 DePaul in the Quarterfinals and a 4-3 win over No. 1 seed UConn in the Semifinals. Xavier last faced March Villanova in 2024, with Xavier taking the 6-1 win in Orlando, Fla.
This marks the eighth time in the 11 tournaments held since Xavier joined the conference that the Musketeers will play in the BIG EAST Championship match. The Musketeers have advanced to at least the Semifinal round each season since Xavier joined the BIG EAST for the 2013-14 season.

In doubles, Abby Nugent and Clara Owen picked up the first decision with a 6-1 win on the No. 1 court, the pair's 13th of the dual season, and eighth win in a row.
St. John's picked up a decision on the No. 2 court, a 7-6 (3) win against Elizabeth Pendergast and Madeleine Rexroat. Emily Flowers and Natalie Smitek clinched the point for the Musketeers with a 6-4 win on No. 3, moving the pair to 7-0 on the season.
Madeleine Rexroat picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win on the No. 3 court, her 13th win of the season and seventh in a row, to make it a 2-0 Xaver lead.
St. John's picked up a point on the No. 1 court, taking a 6-3, 6-2 win against Elizabeth Pendergast.
Emily Flowers won her 12th straight singles match, and 17 of the spring, taking a 6-3, 6-1 win on the No. 4 court to make it a 3-1 Xavier lead.
Abigail Siminski clinched the match for the Musketeers on court No. 5, taking a 7-5, 6-0 win, her seventh in a row and 12th of the dual season.
