NORTHBROOK, Ill. - Xavier women's lacrosse junior Lola Mancuso was named to the inaugural Allstate NACDA Good Works Team (Spring) which recognizes a select group of student-athletes who are leading in their sport, in the classroom and in communities across the country
The Allstate NACDA Good Works Team is made up of 60 student-athletes (20 per season) across all sanctioned men's and women's college sports and divisions who go above and beyond in volunteerism and civic engagement, complementing their achievements in academics and sports.
Mancuso was honored for her off the field efforts in which she mentors underserved students, assists refugee families and supports individuals with different abilities.
"To me, giving back is a core part of living out Jesuit values. It's about recognizing that our talents and education aren't just for our own success, but meant to serve others and create a more just world," said Mancuso. "A big part of being involved in a community is realizing the difference in access and privilege throughout said communities and doing what I can to make sure everyone receives the attention and education they deserve."
The Florida native uses her platform to fund raise for local schools in Argentina as well as leading youth clinics through Xavier Lacrosse.
"The Allstate NACDA Good Works Spring Team ushers in a new class of student-athletes who are integral to their sport, their institution and the communities they serve," said Pat Manak, NACDA's chief executive officer. "The range of causes supported by these individuals and the impact they are having on a local, regional, national and even international level is impressive and a testament to the power of sport and higher education.
