Connor Misch hits a three-run homer to put Musketeers in front 5-4

CINCINNATI - A three-run homer from Connor Misch in the eighth inning helped Xavier secure a 5-4 win over Butler on Saturday afternoon at Hayden Field. The win clinched Xavier's second BIG EAST series victory of the season and moved the Musketeers to 17-14 overall and 4-1 in BIG EAST play.

After three scoreless innings, Butler took a 2-0 lead in the fourth on a two-run home run. Xavier picked up a run in the bottom of the frame, getting a triple from Aedan Anderson and walks from Jason Jelic and Luke Hammond to load the bases for Jake Lambdin, who took a walk to drive in a run and cut it to 2-1.

Isaac Wachsmann led off the sixth with a single, moving to second on an error and third on a ground ball from Hammond. A sac fly from Lambdin brought Wachsmann home, tying the game, 2-2, after six.

Butler posted another two-run inning in the seventh to retake the lead, holding the advantage into the bottom of the eighth. Wachsmann again got aboard to lead off the inning, this time getting on with a walk, and Carter Hendrickson took a two-out walk to put two on for Connor Misch. The first baseman cleared the bases with his second home run of the season, putting the Musketeers in front for good, 5-4.

Connor Misch finished 3-4 with a walk, driving in three RBI and scoring a run with his second home run of the season, a three-run shot in the eighth to give the Musketeers the lead.
Jake Lambdin recorded a pair of walks, driving in an RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the fourth, and picking up another RBI on a sac fly in the sixth.
Aedan Anderson went 2-3 with a walk, scoring a run.

Trevor Geddes faced four batters in the seventh, allowing two runs and picking up a strikeout.
Jake Hooker entered with the bases loaded and one out in the seventh, going the final 2.2 innings of the game without giving up a run. He finished with three strikeouts and picked up the win.
