Xavier moves to 5-1 in BIG EAST action
The victory was also career win No. 200 for head coach Billy O'Conner.
Xavier improved to 18-14 (5-1 BIG EAST), while the Bulldogs drop to 10-21 (0-3 BIG EAST).
The Musketeers scored in all but two innings on Sunday. Xavier scored its first run in the opening frame on a wild pitch before scoring eight runs on six hits in the second inning.
Xavier made the score 12-0 in the fourth inning, scoring three runs on four hits. Butler scored its lone run of the game in the top of the sixth inning to close within 11 runs (12-1), but the Musketeers responded with two runs on two hits in the bottom of the frame - making the score 14-1.
Xavier held a 13-4 advantage in hits and committed one more error (1-0) than the Bulldogs. Both teams left six runners on base.
The 13 hits match a season high for the Musketeers. Xavier now has 13 games with 10 or more hits.
Xavier returns to action on Tuesday, April 8 vs Miami (Ohio) in the Joe Nuxhall Classic. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. from Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.

- A total of 10 Musketeers recorded a hit, while seven different players drove in a run. A total of 10 players also scored a run.
- Clay Burdette, Hayden Christiansen, Jason Jelic and Isaac Wachsmann all hit a home run. Xavier has hit a home run four times a game twice this season (also had four home runs vs Ball State on March 21).
- Jason Jelic went 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs and two extra-base hits. He posted a .500 batting average (4-for-8) in the series with a team-leading eight RBI to go along with four extra-base hits and three runs.
- Connor Misch went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a RBI. He hit .545 (6-for-11) in the series with five RBI and four runs.
- Clay Burdette went 1-for-2 with two RBI, and a run. Carter Hendrickson finished 1-for-2 with a run and a RBI.
- Nolan Tucker went 1-for-1 with two runs. He finished the series with a .600 batting average (6-for-10) with five runs.
- Aedan Anderson went 1-for-2 with two runs. He finished the series with a .556 batting average (5-for-9) with five runs and a RBI.
- Isaac Wachsmann went 1-for-3 with three RBI and a run. Luke Hammond finished 2-for-3 with a double, a run and a RBI.
- Xavier posted a .348 batting average in the series with 14 extra-base hits and 31 runs.
- Luke Hoskins (3-1) matched his season-high in strikeouts with seven. The RHP only allowed two hits in five scoreless innings of work.
- Jack DeTienne recorded two strikeouts in one inning of action. The RHP allowed two hits and one run.
- Jon Wylie threw two strikeouts in one inning of scoreless work.
- Xavier's pitching staff matched its season high in strikeouts with 11. The Musketeers have thrown 10 or more strikeouts six times this season.
- Xavier posted a 3.60 ERA in the series vs Butler. The pitching staff posted 29 strikeouts in 25.0 innings of work.
