Xavier Advances to Joe Nuxhall Classic Championship with Win Over Miami (Ohio)

Musketeers will face winner of Cincinnati/Wright State on Wednesday evening at Prasco Park
CINCINNATI - Xavier baseball used its sixth-straight win to advance to the Joe Nuxhall Classic championship game, taking a 6-4 win over Miami (Ohio) at Prasco Park on Tuesday afternoon.
Miami took a 4-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Musketeers got two runs back in the next half winning, with Jake Lambdin and Carter Hendrickson getting back-to-back singles to start the inning and Connor Misch getting hit by a pitch to load the bases. Clay Burdette brought in a pair of runs with an RBI double.
Burdette led off the third with a triple, coming home on a single from Nolan Tucker to cut the RedHawks' lead to one, 4-3, and a Luke Hammond single brought in Tucker to tie it at 4-4.
The tie held into the bottom of the seventh inning, when Aedan Anderson got on with a double and came home on a single from Isaac Wachsmann to put Xavier in front, 5-4.
Xavier added another run to the lead in the eighth when Hendrickson reached on an error and scored on double from Misch.
Ashton Chronister, Jon Wylie and Jack Nobe combined to keep the RedHawks off the board after the first inning, only allowing five Miami hits in the final eight innings.
Xavier will now face the winner of tonight's game between Cincinnati and Wright state on Wednesday, April 9, in the Joe Nuxhall Championship Game, set for a 6:00 p.m. start at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio

- Jack Nobe pitched 3.0 scoreless innings to close out the game, finishing with three strikeouts on the way to the save, his first of the season.
