NEW YORK -Â Jonny Mennell was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday afternoon.
He made four saves in Xavier's 3-0 season-opening win vs Saint Francis on Thursday, Aug. 21 at Corcoran Field. The Xavier defense limited the Red Flash to seven shots.
The Asheville, N.C., native now has a 14-12-11 career record with 17 shutouts (tied for second in school history) and a 0.92 goals against average (fourth in school history).
Mennell and the Musketeers return to action on Saturday, Aug. 30 at Bellarmine. First touch is set for 7 p.m. from Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.
