Five Musketeers Reach Double Figures in 97-84 Win Over Friars

CINCINNATI - Five Musketeers reached double figures on Saturday, leading Xavier to a 97-84 win over Providence at Cintas Center.
The Musketeers improved to 10-7 (2-4 BIG EAST), while the Friars dropped to 8-8 (1-4 BIG EAST).
Xavier returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 14 vs Butler. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m. from Cintas Center with the game being aired nationally on FS1.
The Musketeers improved to 10-7 (2-4 BIG EAST), while the Friars dropped to 8-8 (1-4 BIG EAST).

NOTABLES
- Malik Messina-Moore (23), Jovan Milićević (22), Tre Carroll (18), Filip Borovićanin (15) and Roddie Anderson III (14) all scored in double figures for the Musketeers.
- Xavier had five players in double figures for the first time since March 19, 2025 vs Texas (W, 86-80).
- Xavier led for 38:25 in the game, while the Friars only led for 18 seconds. The Musketeers led by as many 21 points (91-70) with 4:41 left in regulation.
- The 97 points are the most in a BIG EAST game by the Musketeers this season (second most in a game this season; had 99 points vs Old Dominion on Nov. 18, 2025). The Musketeers also had 23 assists, the team's sixth game of the year with 20 or more assists.
- Xavier only committed four turnovers, the team's fewest turnovers in a game since Dec. 5, 2025 (four turnovers in 79-74 win over Cincinnati).
- The Musketeers made 12 three pointers, their 10th game of the season with 10 or more three pointers (and third straight game with 11 or more three pointers).
- Malik Messina-Moore scored a season-high 23 points on 7-for-14 shooting. The guard made five 3-pointers and dished out three assists in 38 minutes of action. The Ventura, Calif., native eclipsed the 1,000-career point milestone in the win (he now has 1,004 career points).
- Jovan Milićević scored a collegiate career-high 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting. He added eight rebounds and four 3-pointers.
- Filip Borovićanin posted his seventh double-double of the season with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. He also dished out a game-high six assists.
- Tre Carroll finished with 18 points on 8-for-13 shooting. He added six rebounds, four assists and a game-high four blocks (also a career high in blocks).
- Roddie Anderson III added 14 points on 6-for-15 shooting. The guard added four rebounds, four assists and a game-high three steals.
- Xavier posted a .493 field-goal percentage (37-for-75) and went 11-for-15 from the foul line.
- Providence won the battle on the glass, 41-38, and scored two more second-chance points (10-8). The Friars also held a 35-18 advantage in bench points.
- Xavier scored 14 more fastbreak points (30-16) and held a 44-42 advantage in points in the paint. Xavier also scored four more points off of turnovers (8-4).
- Providence posted a .449 field-goal percentage (31-for-69) and went 8-for-32 from behind the arc. The Friars wer also 14-for-21 from the foul line.
- Four Friars scored in double figures, paced by Stefan Vaaks who scored 21 points.
