Carroll scores 29 in 89-75 win over the Bulldogs

CINCINNATI - Tre Carroll led five Musketeers in double figures as Xavier took an 89-75 win over Butler on Wednesday evening at Cintas Center.

The Musketeers improved to 11-7 (2-4 BIG EAST), while Bulldogs moved to 10-7 (1-5 BIG EAST)

Xavier returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 21, when the Musketeers travel to Omaha, Neb. to face Creighton. Tip-off with the Bluejays is set for a 7:00 p.m. ET tip on FS1.

NOTABLES

Xavier scored the opening bucket and never trailed, leading by as many as 13, 43-30, in the final minutes of the first half before going in up 44-36. The Musketeers led by as many as 23 in the second half before winning 89-75
Tre Carroll led all scorers with 29 points, grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, and finished with a career-high matching five assists.
Malik Messina-Moore finished with 15 points and dished out a career-best nine assists. Messina-Moore is averaging 16.9 points per game in BIG EAST play to lead the Musketeers.
Filip Borovicanin added 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had a career-high nine assists.
Jovan Milicevic scored 14 points, connecting on 6-of-9 shots from the floor.
Roddie Anderson III finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. Anderson has reached double figures in scoring in all seven BIG EAST contests so far.
The Musketeers finished shooting 47.3 percent from the floor (35-74) and 32.1 percent from three, and connected on 10-12 free throws.
Xavier had a 42-34 advantage on the boards overall, with a 16-9 advantage on the offensive glass.
Butler had 13 turnovers to nine for the Musketeers, with Xavier outscoring Butler 14-7 on points off turnovers.
The Musketeers held a 50-34 advantage on points in the paint and a 29-16 advantage on fast-break points.
