Tre Carroll Scores Career-High 31 Points in Loss vs Red Storm

Xavier falls, 88-83, on Saturday afternoon at Cintas Center
CINCINNATI - Tre Carroll scored a career-high 31 points in Saturday's 88-83 loss vs St. John's at Cintas Center.
The Musketeers moved to 11-9 (3-6 BIG EAST), while the Red Storm improved to 15-5 (8-1 BIG EAST).
Xavier returns to action at Seton Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 28. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. from the Prudential Center with the game being aired nationally on Peacock.
The Musketeers moved to 11-9 (3-6 BIG EAST), while the Red Storm improved to 15-5 (8-1 BIG EAST).

NOTABLES
- The game featured five ties and six lead changes. Xavier led for 23:45, while St. John's led for 13:43.
- Xavier led by as many as 16 points (55-39) with 17:05 left in the game. St. John's responded by going on a 40-19 run on 14-for-23 shooting, taking a five-point advantage (79-74) with 2:41 left in regulation.
- Xavier went on an 8-2 run capped by a Filip Borovićanin to regain the lead, 82-81, with 1:12 on the clock. The Red Storm finished the game on a 7-1 run to escape Cintas Center with the five-point win (88-83).
- Tre Carroll scored a career-high 31 points on on 12-for-22 shooting. He added four blocks, three rebounds and two assists. The forward now has two career games with 30 or more points (scored 30 points in the 79-74 win over Cincinnati on Dec. 5, 2025). He is the first player to score 31 or more points in a game since Ryan Conwell on March 13, 2025 vs Maquette (38 points in an 89-87 loss in the BIG EAST Tournament).
- Malik Messina-Moore posted 18 points on 6-for-12 shooting. He added five assists and four rebounds.
- Filip Borovićanin finished with nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds and six assists. He added two steals.
- Jovan Milićević had 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting to go along with three rebounds and two steals.
- Xavier had 20 assists, the team's eighth game of the season with 20 or more assists.
- Xavier finished with a .475 field-goal percentage (29-for-61) and went 9-for-21 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 16-for-19 from the foul line.
- St. John's won the battle on the glass, 39-32, and scored 12 more second-chance points (16-4). The Red Storm also had 10 more points off of turnovers (16-6) and scored 10 more points in the paint (38-28).
- Xavier held a 16-14 advantage in fastbreak points. St. John's also held a 17-7 advantage in bench points.
- St. John's posted a .485 field-goal percentage (33-for-68) and went 7-for-18 from behind the arc. The Red Storm were also 15-for-23 from the foul line.
- Bryce Hopkins led five Red Storm players in double figures with 18 points. Zuby Ejiofor grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
