No. 18 Xavier Posts Fifth Straight Shutout, Remains Unbeaten with Scoreless Draw at Seton Hall

The Musketeers move to 8-0-3 on the year
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Xavier men's soccer remained unbeaten on the year following a scoreless draw at Seton Hall on Saturday afternoon at Owen T. Carroll Field.
The Musketeers moved to to 8-0-3 (2-0-2 BIG EAST), while Seton Hall moved to 3-2-6 (1-0-2 BIG EAST).
Xavier returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 15 vs No. 6 Creighton. First touch is set for 6:30 p.m. from Corcoran Field.

NOTABLES
- Xavier now has eight shutouts in 11Â matches this season. The Musketeers only had four shutouts during the 2025 season. The eight shutouts are the most in a season since 2023Â (had nine shutouts - ranking third in single-season school history).
- The eight shutouts are ranked tied for first in the NCAA with UNC Asheville. Xavier is one of only two schools to post five straight shutouts this season (Lehigh posted five straight shutouts from Sept. 5 - Sept. 22).
- Xavier has posted five shutouts in a row and has not allowed a goal since the 89th minute at DePaul on Sept. 18 (have not allowed a goal in 451:35).
- The Musketeers have posted five shutouts in a row this season, the most consecutive shutouts in a season since at least 2004.
- Jonny Mennell (8-0-3) made a season-high seven saves and recorded his seventh shutout of the season. Mennell now has a 0.37 goals against average on the season, ranking fourth in the NCAA. Xavier's team goals against average of 0.36 ranks second in the NCAA.
- Jonny Mennell (24-17-17) has a program-best 26Â career shutouts with a 0.96Â goals against average (fourth in school history) and 191Â saves (eighth in school history). His 24Â wins in goal ranks third in school history.
- Seton Hall took one more shot (14-13) than Xavier, including five more shots on goal (7-2). The Musketeers held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks. The Pirates committed 10 more fouls than the Musketeers (18-8).
- Gun Ha Lee and Gerard Lorente led the Musketeers with three shots each. Jose Pedro added two shots.
- Xavier moved to 7-2-2 all-time vs the Pirates with a 3-1-1 record on the road.
- Xavier remains unbeaten at 8-0-3, the longest unbeaten streak to start the season since 2022, when the Musketeers started the season at 9-0-5.
- Xavier was shut out for only the second time this season (was also shut out on Aug. 25 vs Bellarmine).
- Devin Armstrong (3-2-6) made two saves for the Pirates. Joaquín Brizuela led Seton Hall with five shots (three on goal).
