Nobe Collects Eight Strikeouts, Musketeers Fall in Game Two at No. 8 Arkansas

Musketeers and Razorback wrap up series on Sunday at 1 PM ET
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Jack Nobe collected a career-best eight strikeouts as Xavier baseball fell, 7-6, in game two at No. 8 Arkansas on Saturday afternoon at Baum-Walker Stadium.
Arkansas took the lead in the first inning on a two-run home run, holding the advantage into the third where the Musketeers scored three runs on two hits and two errors to take the lead. JD Crisp got aboard first, hitting a one-out single, then moving to second when Luke Hammond was hit by a pitch. Landon Mensik singled to right field and then advanced to second on an error, with Crisp coming home and Hammond moving to third. A fielding error allowed Peter Johnson to reach in the next at-bat, with Hammond and Mensik coming into score for the 3-2 lead.
The Hogs scored in the bottom of the frame to tie it at 3-3, but the Musketeers retook the lead in the top of the first. Tommy Townsend led off the inning with a single, then moved to third on a single from Tanner Thomas. Townsend came home on a groundball from Hammond to put the Musketeers back in front, 4-3.
Arkansas moved back in front with two runs in the fifth, 5-4, then added another run to its advantage in the sixth to lead 6-4.
Solo home runs from Josh Stonehouse and Landon Mensik in the seventh tied it up at 6-6, with the tie holding into the bottom of the ninth where the Razorbacks took the walk-off win on a pair of hits.
The series finale with the Razorbacks is set for Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET on SEC Network+.

- Garrett Helsel came in with one on and one out in the eighth, pitching 1.0 scoreless inning without allowing a hit or a walk, stirking out one.
- Owen Poole entered with one out in the ninth, facing three batters and allowing one run on two hits.
